It feels like something big is going to happen

Resources:

A defining moment in the history of humanity?
I'm hearing from lots of people around the world that you're feeling something 'big' is going to happen. It seems we're all tuning in to a time of pretty major upheaval at some point in the not-too-distant future. It's no surprise, such times have been foretold frequently enough and there's a great deal of uncertainty right now in world affairs. It feels like the energy is moving in a direction of radical change. I feel that a major 'event' is going to happen, to cause people to look up from the pavement, through the flashing neon-lighted concrete and steel, directly into the 'heavens above'. It feels like something defining is needed to shake humanity to its very core. And if that's true, which certainly feels the case to me, then by the Law of Attraction, we're bound to draw that kind of event to us...

Problem/Reaction/Solution
There's many ways in which such a big event could happen. Take for example war in the Middle East. If you've not realised it yet, the powers-that-be need such a major event to restructure the world's failing economy. The West is indebted way over its head and there is no earthly way to pay back the foreign loans. Both the US and EU economies are teetering on the brink of financial collapse, which would likely cause major social unrest (it already is).

So they need to reduce the debt radically and quickly. What better way than to create another round of 'problem/reaction/solution'? Generate a problem area - like the Middle East - then manufacture a 'just cause' to create a martial economic state, devalue the currencies and write off the foreign debt in the process. Am I dreaming, or is it already happening?

But I suspect Humanity's attempts to control the unraveling matrix will be overtaken by other major events - shifts in universal consciousness which cannot be so easily constrained. There are major internal realignments taking place within the solar logos for example, resulting in the release of solar flares. Indeed we're moving into a period of quite intense solar storm activity. Should the earth be hit by such a storm, as has happened in the past, it could immediately wipe out not only our power grids and communication systems, but also probably swathes of the earth's arable land. Solar activity is certainly something that has registered strongly in my consciousness of late.

The crystal clear clarity of the main stream
But let me quickly add, that by talking openly about such things, I am not intending to spread fear - quite the opposite. For me the worst thing that could possibly happen is that society limps on in some kind of zombie-like status-quo. To me, a slow degradation of our humanity and our quality of beingness is in the interests of no one. The universe is yearning to unravel the blocked energy that our society has wrapped itself up in, and I for one, will not be sad to witness that blockage unwinding itself.

To me, this situation presents a major opportunity for mankind. If we can have trust in the inherent beingness flowing through our souls, then we'll be presented with the opportunity to leave this dense, distorting eddy current and rejoin the crystal clear clarity of the main stream.

Many people are living in fear already, and they don't even realise it. They're living in a not-so-cosy state of isolation from the natural flow and our interconnectivity with all life. They're so busy trying to protect what little they have, that they've forgotten our true heavenly nature: that which is beyond death and suffering; that which is magical, mystical and eternal...

Who would grovel around in the dirt and the muck for a few decades,
scratching around for an ever dwindling piece of illusionary security,
in exchange for just one day of divine, interconnected freedom?

Looking fearlessly into the jaws of fear
It seems many have forgotten the true magic of what it really feels like to look directly into the jaws of fear and not be cowed by it. Instead to say "yes my body may get broken, but my spirit never will". Tell me what that is worth?

When you confront and loose your fear of death,
    something truly magical happens:
you start to loose your fear of living too.

It means you start to become increasingly vulnerable to the moment. When we're vulnerable and can be awesomely okay with that, it means we can keep opening. We don't tighten down when things get tough. And if we don't close down, then we're open to the univeral stream flowing through us. In this place, literally ANYTHING becomes possible. Paradoxically, it's by letting go of life that we truly get a chance to live!

Following the flow of the soul
So how might we best approach the challenging and changing times that are beginning to unravel all around us. Here are some tips and advice which spring into my consciousness...

  1. Learn to follow the soul: whatever it costs right now (and money has a limited shelf life so why hang onto it?), we must learn to honour and follow the soul. If it means ending that job, or you need to walk away from that cosy apartment, above all, take time to listen to the quiet voice within and follow it. Test it, take a chance that you really can hear. It's an inherent language which is natural to us all, but it dwindles when we don't listen (for essential advice on following the soul, check out... http://www.openhandweb.org/five_gateways_book).
  2. Become more as one with mother earth: we are each a part of this planet (even if many don't behave that way). Humanity has mistreated Gaia, but she is a very forgiving soul and she wants as many as possible to join her in the new paradigm. If we consciously take time to go into nature and tune into Gaia, then in time, we will begin to understand her heavenly language. In my experience, she does not use words, but more feelings and metaphorical mirroring.
  3. Become more self sustaining: it's no secret that the system in which we currently live, has written countless blank cheques that can no longer be cashed. Yes, make full (and appropriate) use of the resources whilst they last, but don't mistakenly sleep-walk through life as if today was yesterday because tomorrow, you may find the gravy train has run out of juice. We need to become more self-sustaining in terms of growing our own food, finding alternative supplies of water and also alternative energy where possible.
  4. Gather in small communities: when these big shifts really shake the established society, it's going to be vitally important to know who our real friends are. Who are those we can truly rely upon and work with? That might mean gathering in small, micro communities right now - extended self supporting families. Have you got a spare room to rent or could you put up a cabin in the garden? It's a strong growing trend of people coming together to energy-exchange resources and services (here's a useful transition towns video... http://www.openhandweb.org/060411_times_are_transition).
  5. Store emergency supplies: in the uncertain times ahead, it may well be that total collapse does not happen, but more a kind of progressive degradation where resource, energy and supply chains are frequently stretched and sometimes dry up. I'd say it's vital to keep a couple of months supply of essential resources: dried and tinned food for example, bottled water, candles (useful for light and lighting fires), and even a couple of jerry-cans of fuel. You might need to make an essential trip.
  6. Learn to live off the land: bushcraft skills are likely to be of great value. You and your family (small community) may need to move to a more secure area - especially in times of social unrest. It's actually not hard to live at one with the land if you're committed and motivated, but it does take practice and some essential, inexpensive equipment (check out our survival tips thread... http://www.openhandweb.org/survival_tips)
  7. Invest in your future now: anyone still saving for that rainy day? Well guess what...it's raining! The time has come to abandon fear. The time has come to live the future now, in this moment, the only real time we have. If you feel called to explore a new gift, a new way of being or to process baggage that you may be carrying, don't delay, because you may need that gift tomorrow. There are a plethora of wonderful healing and enlightening practices springing up around the world. Many people are tuning into this wonderful shift in consciousness and we can all learn from one another. If you feel drawn, follow your heart, it may be the wisest penny you ever spent (and likewise, if you feel drawn to work with Openhand, you'd be most welcome... http://www.openhandweb.org/contents/courses)

Openness, commitment and love
No one can accurately prophecy because the future is shaped by the feelings, intentions and choices we all make in the moment. However, there comes a point when the moment is so committed to a particular flow of circumstance, that it becomes inevitable for a chain process to unfold. It's just like taking a step, there comes a point when your foot is sure to land, it's simply a question of when and exactly how.

I feel that's the situation we're all living in right now.
It feels very much to me as if certain 'tipping points' have been activated.
I'd say a convergence of consciousness is taking place with the divine purpose of unraveling a particularly persistent blockage - the very society in which we live.

We can either live in fear of that, deny it is happening, or do something much more courageous, much more divine, much more human. We can embrace the coming changes with openness, commitment and love. We can see it as an opportunity to truly let go of the limitation and constriction of the past. We can re-embrace the divine flow of life and allow it to sweep us up into our rightful place - an eternal fearlessness, openly embracing change and continual evolution.

Indeed, something big is about to happen!

I wrote this poem yesterday ...

DO YOU FEEL IT?

This universal drum
It's beating ever louder
Reaching every heart

A message of our age
Of our transformation
Resonating deep within

Do you feel it?
Could it burn more brightly?
This rhythm beats wildly

It resides in the spaces
In the gap
Before the next moment
Is born

Do you feel it?
This fire
This rhythm...

Could You dance to the rhythm of the world?

.........................................................

I have been feeling as though I am to be preparing for something. I have been working with confronting death without fear, this is a hard one. And also letting go of everything as I know it now.

I feel a lot of really intense energies it can be totally overwhelming at times as I am never sure of how much of what I am feeling is my stuff. I feel very depressed with a lot of conflicting energies going on inside.

I get impulses that I must prepare. I am going on a bush craft course this month and am also looking at where I feel to be geographically to be off the grid and being as self sustainable as possible. I will be storing food and other items over the next few months. I am going on a foraging course and have bought books containing any other survival skills that I may need.

Whilst a lot has been taking place this way, I also feel very lethargic and fuzzy headed. I don't seem to remember things very well at all and time is very strange. I don't seem to be 'doing' much by normal standards.

Its very strange living in these two worlds

Sincere thanks to you Chris for sharing. Intuition tells me - we must know what it is and what it takes to survive such transitions. Prepare in whatever way you are guided to. I deeply feel it has to be this way - for souls to 'complete' their journey in this earthly expression. No fear. We have chosen this - we will re-learn and remember what it is to truly live. We are blessed to have read these words.

Vinnyestar's picture

Synchronistically, I have had a very strong urge, a calling that moved me so deeply that i could not ignore it even if i chose to.

I have been toying with the idea of being self-sustainable but never had the courage to get around to it. This afternoon i experienced a burst of emotion imploring me to take the first step towards the right direction, i knew it didn't matter what exactly i'll do or end up, i just knew that i have to take the first step.

And so I did. A quick research quickly enabled me to get in touch with an organic farmer who readily welcome a pair of helping hands! It's amazing how it all happened so quickly and easily, almost like it was all planned out. I have never done anything like this before, it will be an exciting experience!

Paradoxically, it's by letting go of life that we truly get a chance to live!

Absolutely agree. Besides, i would rather die doing what i believe in than to spend the rest of my life wrestling with illusions. Then you know when the time comes, you will welcome it happily with open arms, liberation.

Thank you for sharing the poem! It gave me a very primitive sort of joy/excitement. Thanks Chris, for sharing once again. Deep down I know, irregardless of what's coming, it will be for the greater good. As such, irregardless of what will happen, I welcome it eagerly! yeaaaa~!

I feel this more deeply than you could ever imagine Chris...
Ive seen it for myself, almost word for word what your saying... preparations, shifting how to live COMPLETELY new,Im waking up at night sitting silently with this FEELING, its overwhelming, HUGE BUILDUP... thank you for your comforting caring expressions. Affirmations we can all use...
I will hold you all in my heart thru thick and thin...
I love you all...
-Bill

It is easy to write lots of wise words but do you walk your talk ? Lots of good advice but how authentic is it? You say leave your job and in the next sentence the openhand seminar is mentioned, does it cost money ? yes it does.
You adveritse your book so many times, if money is not important as you say, why do you keep bringing it up. If someone wants to have the book or the seminar they will find it anyway, why keep posting it on a almost daily basis ? Truth is, being authentic and loving people when they are actually in your seminar, behind a computer it easy to write a lot but how is real life? interacting with people ? ... Sadly I did attend your seminar and I was very surprised. But every experience is a good experience so no hard feelings.

Hi freesoul,

I am for freedom of expression. So by same token I feel like expressing my self..

Pretty hurt and disgusted by your post...

I can only find one sentence to draw a parallel between money and words in this article and forum... "how much is the sun ? "

Regarding love, as Chris says it's inside you , you are looking at wrong places...

Regards,
MB

Hi FreeSoul, it's great that you feel the freedom to post here smiley

Without negating your point of view, which I respect and honour, for others new to Openhand who might be reading, I felt to respond to a couple of your points to add balance.

Firstly, everyone in the Openhand Team has given up careers, long-term relationships and possessions in order to walk the path - we speak from direct experience. And I might quickly add, we're not saying people HAVE to do that, we're saying if the path takes you that way, then being prepared to do it.

In terms of us selling and promoting the book, we chose to promote directly rather than through a publisher because it meant we could maintain close management of the content which is important to us (not that we wouldn't go directly to a publisher in the future). We actually only earn pennies from a book sale, which certainly doesn't cover the time we spend packing, sending, posting and tracking. We feel impassioned to promote the book because we feel it is divinely given to provide the advice and sharings contained within. I for one feel it is the purpose of my incarnation
- hence I'm pretty enthused by it smiley

And yes, we do charge for seminars. How else would we be able to provide so much free content on this website? Take for example the "5Gateways" documentary. It took four years of development, cost everyone involved a great deal of challenge, personal sacrifice and monetary resource. Despite being offered a generous licensing fee for limited Web TV access, we chose to give it away for free so that all could see it. That's not to mention the constant provision of free material on this website on a daily basis.

But the Openhand Approach is not for everyone. We're totally accepting of that and welcome every soul's freedom to choose and walk their own path.

Here's a great story we've posted on the site before about Confucius. It's very relevant to this thread and I've personally found deeply inspirational...

Confucius and his students went on a hike out in the countryside. He was thinking of using the opportunity to engage the students in a discussion about the Tao when one of them approached and asked: "Master, have you ever been to Liu Liang? It is not far from here."

Confucius said: "I have heard about it but never actually seen it with my own eyes. It is said to be a place of much natural beauty."

"It is indeed," the student said. "Liu Liang is known for its majestic waterfalls. It is only about two hours' trek from here, and the day is still young. Master, if you would like to go there, I would be honored to serve as your guide."

Confucius thought this was a splendid idea, so the group set off toward Liu Liang. As they were walking and chatting, another student said: "I grew up near a waterfall myself. In summertime, I would always go swimming with the other children from the village."

The first student explained: "These waterfalls we will see aren't quite like that. The water comes down from such a great height that it carries tremendous force when it hits the bottom. You definitely would not want to go swimming there."

Confucius said: "When the water is sufficiently powerful, not even fish and turtles can get near it. This is interesting to ponder, because we are used to thinking of water as their native element."

After a while, they could see the waterfall coming into view in the hazy distance. Although it was still far away, they could see that it was indeed as majestic as the first student described. Another hour of walking brought them even closer, and now they could clearly hear the deep, vibrating sound it made.

They topped a rise and were able to see the entire waterfall. Then they gasped collectively, because at the bottom of it, they saw a man in the ferociously churning water, being spun around and whipped this way and that by the terrifying currents.

"Quickly, to the waterfall!" Confucius commanded. "He must have fallen in by accident, or perhaps he is a suicide. Either way, we must save him if we can."

They ran as fast as they could. "It's useless, Master," one the students said. "By the time we get down there, he'll be too far gone for us to do him any good."

"You may well be right," Confucius replied. "Nevertheless, when a man's life is at stake, we owe it to him to make every effort possible."

They lost sight of the man as they descended the hillside. Moments later, they broke through the forest to arrive at the river, a short distance downstream from the waterfall. They expected to see the man's lifeless body in the river. Instead, they saw him swimming casually away from the waterfall, spreading his long hair out and singing loudly, evidently having a great time. They were dumbfounded.

When he got out of the river, Confucius went to speak with him: "Sir, I thought you must be some sort of supernatural being, but on closer inspection I see you are an ordinary person, no different from us. We sought to save you, but now I see it is not necessary."

The man bowed to Confucius: "I am sorry if I have caused you any grave concerns on my behalf. This is merely a trivial recreational activity I enjoy once in a while."

Confucius bowed back: "You say it is trivial, but to me it is incredible. How can it be that you were not harmed by the waterfall? Are there some special skills that you possess?"

"No, I have no special skills whatsoever," the man replied. "I simply follow the nature of the water. That's how I started with it, developed a habit out of it, and derived lifelong enjoyment from it."

"This 'follow the nature of the water' - can you describe it in greater detail? How exactly does one follow the nature of water?"

"Well... I don't really think about it very much. If I had to describe it, I would say that when the powerful torrents twist around me, I turn with them. If a strong current drives me down, I dive alongside it. As I do so, I am fully aware that when we get to the riverbed, the current will reverse course and provide a strong lift upward. When this occurs, I am already anticipating it, so I rise together with it."

"So you are working with the water and not just letting it have its way with you?"

"That's right. Although the water is extremely forceful, it is also a friend that I have gotten to know over the years, so I can sense what it wants to do, and I leverage its flow without trying to manipulate it or impose my will on it."

"How long did it take for you to make all this an integrated part of your life?"

"I really can't say. I was born in this area, so the waterfalls have always been a familiar sight to me. I grew up playing with these powerful currents, so I have always felt comfortable with them. Whatever success I have with water is simply a natural result of my lifelong habit. To be quite frank, I have no idea why this approach works so well. To me, it's just the way life is."

Confucius thanked him and turned back to his students. He smiled, because he suddenly knew exactly what they could talk about on their trip home.

Beautiful article Chris.

I feel incredibly blessed that I was brought up by a resourceful mother. There is not a day goes by when I don't feel the gift of it. We we taught by example to make the most of what we had (which was always enough, but never a lot). She was always sewing, knitting, making something or making great food out of the most simple ingredients. She could make always something out of nothing. Then after my awakening (over 17 years ago, for those who don't know me), I ended up spending most of my time doing voluntary work, helping to preserve the local, natural environment and wildlife etc. It taught me some invaluable survival skills (on many levels) and most importantly how to live on very little money, whilst doing something for Mother Earth that I believed in. It has prepared me very well for the early days of Openhand, when we gave up everything to get it going and had to make a bag of lentils stretch a very long way!!!). The reward for me certainly is not financial (as anyone who actually knows us personally will testify to, since nearly all of the income from courses goes back to keep Openhand running and not us). The reward for me is the joy in my heart in knowing that it touches peoples lives and helps many people to unravel the restrictions that prevent the unleashing of the soul. I do the best I can with what I have.

I feel thankful that I have trained and prepared in outdoor survival - both in the military, as a soldier and as a civilian. This feels important for the upcoming changes. There are lots of courses people can do these days, such as the one Harmony is doing up in the first post. If it 'all comes crashing down tomorrow' I wouldn't hesitate in leaving my home behind along with my bivi bag, a few supplies and the enthusiasm to do what I am divinely given to do. I've done it before. I'd do it again if that is what is called for.

There is so much I could say about all of this, but the most important factor of all to me, is to 'follow the soul'. It has guided me so powerful this far. I have left so much behind only to find the universe rise to meet me.

So, for all those who resonate.
A few words of insight for these times of profound change...

“When we walk to the edge of all the light we have and take the step into the darkness of the unknown, we must believe that one of two things will happen. There will be something solid for us to stand on or we will be taught to fly.”

Paul Gilding: the Earth is full
Just came across this video which well worth watching. It's a 'Ted Speech' by Paul Gilding entitled "The Earth is Full".

Every now and then someone comes along and you can just feel it is there mission to put something on the collective map. Like Al Gore seemed to do that so well about global warming. That's what I feel this guy does, being totally honest about the future unsustainability of humanity's current situation.

What stirs me also is something I've been saying for a while - he too feels the system is ALREADY crumbling and collapsing - we just can't immediately see it. I find him very convincing in this.

Once thing I do disagree on though, is that we can find a way to sustain 9 Billion people on the planet assuming we consume less. I think this doesn't take into account the plant and animal kingdoms too, which deserve their space in it all.

In any case, it is not up to us to decide - that's the fallacy - I feel it's now most definitely back in the hands of Gaia and universal consciousness. Together they will unwind the eddy current in which we're living, then it is up to us as to whether we choose to rejoin the universal flow.

Anyway here's the video, I found it very moving. All credit to someone being totally honest...

Chris

Trinity Bourne's picture

This guy has an amazing message. I love his approach. He conveys something that can be quite challenging for a lot to get their head around in such a real, sensitive way.
I recommend that y'all watch it.

Continuing on from your point Chris about 9 Billion people on the planet. I agree in that I don't feel that we can all live sustainably. But if I follow the eco-system model that all other organisms on the planet seem to flow with, then I can only trust that nature will take its course, with us too. Equilibrium will eventually be found (whatever that means). I feel the pain of the Earth so strongly, that I yearn so deeply for her to reclaim herself and realibrate. If that means that some are blessed to live on in harmony with Gaia then what a divine blessing that would be too.

Chris Bourne's picture

Indeed Trinity. What I find fascinating is that quite a few people have now been looking at the amount of resources we'd need to sustain human life on this planet. I'm sure many readers have heard the "one and a half planets" quote. In other words, that humanity would need one and a half planets to continue consuming at its current rate.

It is the biennial "Living Planet Report" that first said...

"The world's people are now living lifestyles which would require one and a half planets to sustain and it will need the capacity of two Earths by 2030."

Although some may find it quite shocking, personally I feel this is a very conservative estimate indeed. I don't really feel it takes into consideration the space needed by earth's natural ecosystems. So it's effectively implying that if by 2030 we halve our consumption, everything could be sustainably okay.

I totally disagree. Not based on any maths, but by what I feel in my heart.

Prior to the industrial revolution which was complete around 1850, the population on the planet was around 900 million. It had taken several million years of evolution for us to get there (not considering the various unnatural external interventions). It seems to me, that such a number had a kind of rightness to it and would have been sustainable if people had lived at one with the earth.

As we head towards the middle of the century, at current trends, the population is projected to be around 9 Billion, (many consuming as if there is no tomorrow). That's a ten fold expansion in just two centuries. I ask you to consider that for one moment. How can that be in any way natural and aligned with the universal flow? To me, it simply is not. It leads me to feel, that in actual fact, we would need ten planets to sustain all humans living aligned and at one with the natural eco-systems. Yes Ten!

I can't prove it of course, I just ask you to contemplate in your own heart - beyond the distortions of what the mind might want - and see how you really feel about it.

To me it speaks of the magnitude in which our society is out of alignment and exactly why the energy is now building so strongly to fracture society and bring humanity and the planet back into alignment. I'm certain in my own heart that this is going to happen within the next few decades.
