Speaking through the weave of global events
A few days ago I felt divinely guided to watch the film "The Titanic" and synchronistically the video appeared in the local charity shop so I snapped it up for a song at only 50p. The film of course has many deeply interesting messages passionately narrated through the eyes of two young people who find love and most importantly themselves against the seemingly overwhelming odds of British Colonial arrogance and the unforgiving icy seas of the North Atlantic. So why is this story so important? Are we being shown something much deeper about ourselves?...

Divine messenger
Almost a year ago I was leading the Openhand level 3 course "The Transfiguration" at the wonderful mountain retreat centre Cae Mabon near Mount Snowdon in North Wales (find out more). The spiritual practice on this particular day was a sweat lodge ceremony during which we experienced the powerful presence of a heavenly messenger whom I knew to be Archangel Gabriel.

Gabriel was "speaking" of the messages higher Benevolent Consciousness had been shaping for mankind over the years as we move towards perhaps our most breath taking transition; how that consciousness is continually shaping a mirror for us that we may better see and feel who we really are in relation to events and circumstances.

Remember the British Cross Channel ferry that capsized in mid channel in 1987 because its bow doors were left open? Remember what the name was? It was called "The Herald of Free Enterprise". Can you read the synchronicity in it? - just as the Titanic was sunk because our ignorance and arrogance caught us in an illusion that thought it might steam roller its way forwards without due care and attention to mother nature.

Of course I'm not saying that Benevolent Consciousness creates these apparent disasters. I'm saying we co-created them providing us the choice to look into the mirror, wake up and find a more harmonious way of being. To me "Free Enterprise" is anything but free. Ambition, desire, greed and fear has addicted many to the ever spiraling need for distraction or security outside of themselves rather than finding completeness within.

I recently heard that Virgin Airlines had flown the first ever plane on biofuel. Greenpeace (amongst many others) regarded it as a publicity stunt. I have no doubt myself that Mr Branson was working with the best possible intent according to the view of reality he holds in his consciousness. However we have only to look a little wider to see that finding more efficient ways of maintaining the status quo is not going to solve our problems, to me it seems like we're just papering over the cracks, shuffling the deck chairs whilst the ship goes down.

In my view, if we are to stem the tide of global warming, poverty and injustice, we require a radical change to the way we live; we need to consume less of everything and become at-one once more with Gaia herself.

When I listen to her, she is calling out to me and to everyone. It may be that there is insufficient will to truly change course and avoid the dislodged ice bergs dangerously floating on our path. It may be that our consumeristic society (metaphored by The Titanic itself) has to go down in order that mankind may begin again.

Whatever the immediate future may have in store for us, I know that Benevolent Consciousness is there for us and a safe shore will be found should we choose to follow that quiet inner voice. This is exactly what the two central characters of the film Jack and Rose chose to do. They followed their souls and it led them to their destiny - the unfolding of truth within their hearts.
