Is your life a constant miracle?
Do you live in a state of miracles, mystery and magic the whole time? Do you feel held and embraced by an energy of eternal, unconditional love and benevolence? Do you read - or at least attempt to - read the deeper meaning behind all events and circumstances in every single moment? If not, why not? Why would you exclude yourself from this place of pure bliss? Why would you deny yourself your divine birthright?...
As I write this, I’m in the transit lounge in Dubai International Airport making my way back from Australia where we’ve been putting the finishing touches to our film 5 Gateways. I find airports a truly fascinating place. I guess one of my most favorite past times is people watching and of course an airport lounge offers tremendous opportunity with people from all walks of life and backgrounds crossing paths.
It’s been a long journey, with many hours spent waiting for connections. I used to be an impatient person, such journeys would have driven me practically insane had I not had sufficient distraction. However, all that changed with a life threatening car crash following which, I now find myself able to feel the natural flow of the moment and what it is inviting me to do. For me, it means there simply are no longer any 'ordinary moments'.
This 'pull' connecting us to the extraordinary, can work everywhere at any time providing we make ourselves open and available to it. It can help us decide where to sit, what to eat, what not to eat (!), what to read, who or what to notice. We soon discover life conceals a hidden message which speaks in every moment through every circumstance. It's like having your very own choir of angels singing background harmonies just for you.
Of course most people see themselves as separate from all things. In the density of this third dimension, the flow of universal life energy gets easily dissolved or 'written over'. Such a gentle, unassuming and quite benevolence can so easily be ignored or drowned out in the high intensity, neon lighted and noisy background vibration of the material world.
To most, the energy is so seemingly inconsequential, the question easily and readily arises why bother? What can it do? How can such a tender and fragile thing help me?
And herein lies the problem and at the same time, an incredible opportunity. It's all a question of choice. You can choose to ignore synchronicity, you can choose to see and experience total separation - just doing things without any real consideration as to why. You can choose to be asleep to the deeper meaning.
Alternatively, you can hold open the possibility that EVERYTHING contains a message. That every single phenomenon that appears in your immediate environment is a mirror reflecting something: that everything is a divine gift of some kind saying "This is what you are being now, does that serve you? Can you find an even more complete expression?"
So for example, whilst being away I've meditated a lot less than I normally would. As a result, I notice my inner world is not nearly as quiet as it would otherwise normally be. I find decision making is not as crystal clear as usual. So everywhere I now look, my attention is being drawn to people and situations that are distracting. A lady with her little son has just sat down next to me, he's listening to Bart Simpson on his hand held computer - not exactly stillness and peace!
Although I don't feel frustration, I am watching to see if my field contracts at all and I work to overcome any potentially judgmental thoughts. I find myself wondering if I should just simply move away, but then I catch myself. I created this in my environment just as we create everything. So what is the purpose? Well clearly my consciousness is less clear than it would otherwise be - being in the matrix had affected me. Maybe I'm being invited to go deeper still, to be able to meditate deeper in the thick of it all?
Just as soon as this thought arose, the airport tannoy kicked in with a Muslim rendition of "Allahu Akbar" - "God is great". Indeed God is great. I'm instantly filled with a warm feeling. This well timed synchronicity confirms I'm still reading the flow even if I'm not as clear as I would otherwise be. And of course, it encourages me to meditate wherever, whenever and whatever the distraction. The sound embraces me like a loving mother and I'm carried into higher planes of joy. All in a busy airport transit lounge with Bart Simpson playing in the background!
Everywhere I go, I see and feel God constantly. Is that because I'm different to everyone else? Somehow special? Not a bit of it. We can all connect in this way, it just requires us to work at it, to bring our attention to it. Then to accept what happens in our external mirror as our own creation. When we take ownership for literally everything, we're afforded continual opportunities for evolutionary growth. When we abandon the need for the mirror to be a certain way and simply be honest with ourselves about why we created it, this is when we see the patterning behind events. This is when we understand the deeper significance. This when life begins to be truly magical.
It requires us to hold open the space and possibility that all life is a divinely magical orchestration of benevolent guidance. What if every single thought, emotion and choice you have are revealing this hidden code? Could you accept that as a possibility and work with it long enough to give it a chance to work for you? Can you be less invested in the outcome of every moment and instead tune into the real game - what each event means?
If we can have the commitment and focus of mind to hold an open space for this, then I just know every single person could find the aptitude for this divine language. It is simply encoded within our hearts. It's entirely natural. It's what it truly means to be human.
As I sign off, I discover my plane has been delayed another hour. Now I have a choice, in this very moment. Do I get tight and frustrated at the prospect of listening to Bart Simpson for another hour? Or do I look for the opportunity in it? There is no choice at all really. I close my eyes, take a deep inhalation of breath, time to meditate. As I do so, right at that moment, the tannoy crackles to life once more.... "Allahu Akbar". A deep smile arises from the depths of my being and spreads across my face. Indeed he is!

Finding serenity in the storm is invaluable on our journey. This is where the real juice of life is...
I'm reminded of a parable I heard once about a guru who lived in a cave for 10 years (or so) meditating, finding the secret of life and seeking enlightenment. Eventually he found such a place of serene stillness he felt as if he'd enlightened and decided that his time in the cave was done. He reached the first village and two boisterous children came gleefully bounding upto him. He found himself frustrated and snapped at their intrusion. He realised that he wasn;t enlightened after all
An enlightened state is much easier without challenges.
Yet...
Enlightenment is found through ALL things.
