20/01/10: "Creating for... creating"

Unleashing creative flow through our lives
Here at Openhand I tend to do a good deal of one-on-one coaching. Many people have similar challenges balancing their spiritual impulses with our day-to-day lives. It seems frequently, we know the higher altruistic message, yet society pulls us against what we so often feel in our hearts. The tendency can be to dim our inner light. However, there is one way in particular to keep our light shining brightly. In a word it is 'creativity'...

We are all immensely creative beings. Whether we realise it or not, our inner state of consciousness is creating every single event and circumstance in our outer lives (co-creating with others too of course!). If our inner light is getting dimmed and a little crushed by the density of the outer world, then our experience in the outer is likely to be a little crushed and stagnant too.

That is where creativity comes in or rather I should say attuning to our inherent creativity and letting it flow. Now when I speak of this with people, especially those who don't necessarily feel hugely creative, there seems to be one typical hurdle... people often feel like their creations are simply not good enough for this world. Society wants to quantify, judge and award creations that are 'better' than others.

Of course in absolute truth, no one thing is better or worse than another. Every single part of the mosaic is required to complete the masterpiece. And also, in absolute truth, it is not the creation itself that counts, it is the act of creating.

It is the act of creating that gets our 'juices flowing', that opens higher mind and begins to shape our lives more inline with who we truly are. And it simply doesn't matter how 'good' or 'bad' society and the people around us might judge our creation to be.

Such things as singing, playing a musical instrument, painting and writing not to mention a myriad of other creative possibilities, all of which tend to open ourselves up and stimulate greater creative potential in our lives.

So what is it that you feel moved to do? What do you notice and enjoy in your outer world that perhaps you could have a go at yourself? What really crumbles your creative cookie?

Whatever it is, if we simply give it a go with absolutely no need of an outcome, then we're going to stimulate new gifts of beingness, fresh new energy will be unleashed through our lives and who knows, maybe you'll discover a gift you never dreamed possible.

I remember when Trinity wrote this wonderful poem "The Bridge" during a particularly difficult period in her life. I was not previously aware that she even had poetic inclinations. Recently, having acquired a new publishing program, she felt moved to add imagery and music to the poem - simply for the fun of it. It wasn't until she was finished, we both knew she simply had to share it with others...

Just for the joy of it

What a beautiful sharing. It's so important to honour what flows without judgement or need for a particular outcome at all.

I joined a singing group last night and am so delighted that I did. I love singing and find it an awesome way to express my soul. I wondered how many people don't do things that they feel they would love to do because of concern that they are not good enough. The wonderful thing is that people come to the group from all walks of life, all ages and all abilites. Every one simply sings for the joy of it. It's awesome.

There is something unique for all of us. Some way to express the creativity of the soul. There are endless possibilities.

When we do what stirs our soul, we touch places beyond the ordinary and find ourselves opening more and more to Higher Consciousness. I say 'go for it' - just for the Love of it and see what happens.

the creative buzz!

wowsers, trin your breathtakingly beautiful creation and chris your truthful words have infused into the depths of my soul and uplifted me this morning, filled me with joy and buzzing inspiration!

I have often found blockages to being creative - which I recognise come down to attachment to the outcome and the judgement of myself and others. But those times I've let myself open to the flow and felt moved to be creative to express things I didn't even know were going to express themselves - wow what a joy I felt in that process! Funnily enough doodling has often allowed me to reach this place most easily, because there is no pressure on myself to create something specific or an end result - it's just a pen in the hand allowed to flow by itself!! Likewise, singing at the top of my voice while I'm driving along - all inhibitions and attachments let go - what an energising feeling! (I think I will try and find a singing group too!)

The feeling of absorption and presence whilst creating art or music from a soul place reminds me of how children are fully focused on each thing they are doing - not multitasking, or thinking of something else while they're doing it which I find myself doing so often... Smile

Also when we create from our soul rather than our minds, I think it reaches out and touches others and infuses them with inspiration to create too!

with love and gratitude
