23/04/08: "The £50 Billion bail out...but its not enough!"

A world of Blank Cheques
The UK government has just announced a £50 Billion rescue package for our country's ailing banks as the global credit crunch widens. But will it be enough to prevent economic melt down? If you contemplate the route cause, it can't be enough. In fact if every government in every country invested to support the banks, it still wouldn't be enough. Why not?...
Our banking system is based on something called "fractional debt". Put simply, if a bank has £1000 on deposit it is legally entitled to lend out 10 times this amount. Just think about that for a moment...it is creating money from absolutely nothing, thin air, zilch! Furthermore, it needs people to keep borrowing in order that they keep paying money into the system.
The system is only tenable when it is expanding - in other words our economy has to keep growing and more and more people have to keep borrowing just to sustain the system. If we stop borrowing, then there is insufficient fluidity in the system - not enough cash to oil the wheels.
So the powers that be have created more and more things for us to spend money on - Industrial consumerism was not an accident, it was created by design to make a few people at the top very wealthy indeed.
The trouble is (or rather blessing which ever side of the fence you're on) that this insatiable beast has raping or planet of resources and now those resources are running out. Did you know that for every calorie of food you eat, it costs 10 calories to produce?
How is this possible you might ask? The answer is oil - centuries of ancient stored sunlight which we have been plundering as if there was no tomorrow. Well now its tomorrow! Those reserves are running out. Economies can no longer keep on growing and our financial system based on "fractional debt" is beginning to crack at the foundations.
What has this got to do with spirituality you might ask? Everything! It is Industrial Consumerism that has been singularly responsible during its time for removing millions of people from the experience of their divinity. It creates ever increasing distraction and mental programming to loose us more and more in the external drama. It takes us out of the inner world and therefore away our divine birthright. Indeed it is so accomplished at doing this, you might well ask if it was designed that way!
That's why I for one will not be at all unhappy when it does go down. I see enormous potential for us to find our humanity once more. To me, it will be a positive thing.
Finally, here's an article from the UKs Independent about the growing credit crunch and why the £50 Billion bail out is just not going to be enough...click here
