Heart felt "Thankyou!"
I'd like to thank everyone for the heart-warming feedback I received about our last newsletter Making difficult decisions easier. Many have emailed and said how helpful they found it. It seems many of us are having to make some tough choices at the moment - my heart goes out to you all. A couple of things have arisen from the exchange which I thought were important to address aswell hence this follow-up. Firstly the importance of going with the first choice we feel; please allow me to explain a little further...
Higher impulses
From my perspective when we're truly flowing with choices of the soul, there is no need of difficult deliberation about the initial choice itself. This is because the initial choice comes through our higher mind which is in tune with the "cosmic library" of all knowing. In other words the impulse is coming from that place beyond time, a place where the "Right Outcome" is already known - we are tuned into the "divine plan" and flowing as-one with the Universe.
"Right Action" lands in our consciousness as pure and simple knowing - 'this is the way to go now'. The energy is flowing down into the throat chakra, that which expresses our highest truth. Sometimes we may miss the initial higher knowing impulse until it sinks down to the heart chakra in which case we may feel a heart-felt 'pull' instead.
So either the impulse will come as a knowing or a pull. The important thing to note is that these are spontaneous experiences - very 'in-the-moment'. If we find ourselves deliberating whether to do this or that, its highly likely that what we're dealing with are personality led decisions instead (and therefore less likely to serve who we really are).
The importance of "surrendered openness"
When we are struggling to make a decision, what actually happens is that we constrict our consciousness to the lower chakras and cut out the higher impulses all together. It also happens when we're in worry or fear. That's why its so important to be relaxed when making such difficult decisions. In fact it's much more accurate to say it will benefit us to ALWAYS come from a relaxed state - what we might call "surrendered openness" - in which case higher knowing simply flows down constantly.
The next important point to make is to look at what happens when this higher knowing flows down into the lower chakras; in other words when the energy/consciousness (both the same thing) interacts with our lower bodily vehicles (through the lower chakras). So for example, what happens when these impulses act through our third chakra (the energy body), the second chakra (the emotional body) and the base chakra (the physical body including lower mind).
Of course in order for the higher impulse to manifest as action in this 3rd Dimensional Realm, we have to process the choice in order to decide how best to act on it. So for example, I may feel a pull to paint my shed so I'll need to make a whole manner of decisions about how to bring that into being...
- what paint to use?
- how much will it cost?
- should I go for the environmentally friendly option which costs more?
- if not, why not?
- what preparation do I need to make?
- can I do it myself or do I need help?
- etc etc etc
Here's where it gets very interesting and also confusing! Each processing thought/feeling we make is likely to activate inner distortions - conditioned neural pathways. For example, it may be that we did a 'bad' job painting something when we were little and got chastised for it. Or our parents may have been hard-up and projected their limitations onto our reality. Now we'll be activating all of those old conditioned pathways which in themselves will cause tightness - our inner buttons get pressed.
In working with people, I've frequently observed how such tightness may cause us to think we've made the wrong choice in the first place - so there is often the temptation to abandon the original choice. Its quite understandable of course - "why would the soul take us into such tightness?" is a question I frequently get asked.
It's all a question of purpose
In my truth, the answer is this.... the purpose of the soul is to take us EXACTLY into those areas which are likely to push our buttons - why? Because our tightness is EXACTLY what's stopping us realising our purpose - to radiate the full glory of the soul. If we follow the inner decision making process I'm advocating, in the beginning its likely to feel like the soul is having a great cosmic joke at our expense, but rest assured it is not! It is simply choosing for us to be free by confronting those situations where we are not free.
If we allow it to, the higher knowing of the soul will manifest circumstances in our lives that cause us to confront all the old conditioned behaviours (fixed neural pathways) that formed as a child and dissolve them - how? We do it by recognising the tightness (which inner button is being pressed) and instead choosing our higher truth. If we do this, the conditioned behaviour will (over time) dissolve and the higher expression of the soul will flourish - in which case we'll manifest a more harmonious way of being from our new higher level of consciousness.
So in summary...
From my perspective the key is to always come from the place of surrendered openness and then make the first choice that lands spontaneously in our knowing or we feel in our heart as a pull. Then to use the lower chakras (the lower mind for example), to ask "how to carry out that choice?" always watching for the tightness that may arise due to our conditioning.
I'm reminded of a line from our film "Gateways of Light"...
- The real secret is surrender,
because the Universe has a design,
a natural flow all of its own.
Its kind of like being a surfer riding a wave.
We don't dictate the way the wave is going
we just ride it.....
and enjoy the ride!
I wish you all happy surfing!

The natural flow of the Universe
Well shared Chris...
This line always sends shivers through my being! Infact the whole movie does!
- "The real secret is surrender,
because the Universe has a design,
a natural flow all of its own.
Its kind of like being a surfer riding a wave.
We don't dictate the way the wave is going
we just ride it.....
and enjoy the ride!"
It's amazing how challenging that surrender 'letting go' can be. How often we choose to ignore the Universal flow and talk our selves into repeating the same old patterns with a different veil.
I agree Eden, in that the tightness may well come from a lack of self honesty and hence lack of trust in that higher guiding consciousness knows better than we do.
The experience of 'peer pressure' is a perfect opportunity to watch ones motives and listen to the pull of the soul through and beyond.

re riding the wave
Hi chris
Once again great article you have such a great talent to put things in a way to open up the doorways for all to see.
I feel often the tightness you describe comes from a lack of either belief or honesty within the self which in my experience is often put there by peer pressure.
good surfing to all
