Uprising, from the Middle East to the Mid West

The silent majority speaks out
Well we said here at Openhand that we felt the uprising in the Middle East was a more metaphoric symbolism of a wider upwelling of consciousness across the world. So now in Wisconsin - the mid West - we're seeing tens of thousands of ordinary people taking to the streets protesting for their employment rights which Republican leaders are trying to whittle away in a desperate attempt to balance budget deficits. And similar uprisings are happening in other states across America too. Two thirds of people polled, said it was the revolution in the Middle East which had inspired them. They felt like it's time the 'Silent Majority' began to speak out. Yes indeed. It's time for us all to begin speaking our truth...

The rise of 'people power'
Wisconsin may seem like a world away from Egypt, as is Ohio from Bahrain, Indiana from Libya, but there's a big thing in common - people power. People who have been suppressed for too long by different systems yes, but with similar affect.

We've frequently spoken here at Openhand of the controlling systems in which we live are unjust and inequitable. It's been all too easy for the world's democratic leaders to point at the dictatorships and rest on patronising laurels... "our peoples are much better off, we have democracy".

Well now that veil of illusion is falling away too. Ordinary people everywhere are seeing that such 'democratic systems' seem perfectly configured to strip resources from the poor majority and give them to a rich minority. All the while, the carrot of what people might have, is dangled on wide-screen before ever hopeful noses, thus subjugating the masses quietly into line.

The not so silent majority
The books do not balance anymore. Yes there's truth in the austerity measures that western leaderships are trying to apply. We need to learn to live with less, much less, and be happy with that. We need to learn that happiness comes not from something we can buy, but comes from within. It comes from attuning to the simple joy of living.

But it's not helping that society continues to promote, advertise and market grandiose 'life-styles' that we should all want and aspire to. Not only is it depriving us of contentment, but it's hurting Gaia too. And neither does it help to subject the silent-majority to increased tax rises and deprive essential services whilst granting bail-outs to the super rich.

The silent majority is becoming not so silent anymore! People everywhere are beginning to see through the injustice of the system. To me, this needs to happen more and more. We need to bring conscious attention to it. We need to talk and blog about it on the web. It's this upsurge - this upwelling - which needs to be expressed. It will be this that fans the flames of change further afield.

Change from the grass roots upwards!
It is this that will provoke the possibility ultimately of 'systematic change'. Changing to a way of living which is not only inspired by the grass roots, but is LEAD by the grass roots, from the bottom up. It is we 'ordinary people' everywhere who must take responsibility and empowerment for our own lives back.

In the past, people's have delegated their responsibility to leaders and systems. As long as they got their crumbs from the bigger table, they didn't complain too much. We've turned a blind eye for too long and the systems themselves have become inequitable and dehumanising. So we have to end their control.

We do that increasingly by taking back responsibility for our own lives. By making choices that serve our souls. There's no-one who can tell you what's best for you - your soul knows. Not only that, but when we truly align and follow our soul, we find we align with a co-creative design that serves ALL souls. I believe people from the Middle East to the Mid West are just beginning to touch that consciousness now. That's what's inspiring the uprising - the New Paradigm that can be felt in our hearts.

From a whisper to a shout
So these are powerful times indeed. It feels like a world wide revolution is just beginning. They're early days yet, but that inner knowing of a higher harmonious reality is beginning to shake the foundations of lower inequity. And we need to keep on shaking it. As yet we may only be whispering, but soon we'll be shouting it from the roof tops!...

Hi - Uprising in the UK Too

Hi Chris - not sure if you are aware but there is a very large demonstration planned for 29th March in London in the UK

Dave and his two sisters are going and it is a protest against the government cuts

There are 3 train loads of teachers going just from Manchester so looks like it might be a big event

Website details are

www.coalitionofresistance.org.uk

Makes me think of the bunnies in the duracel advert - hundreds and hundreds of them joined together to make the whole

I loved the reference from Ghadaffi about us still having the queen here on the news - made me think about the Royal Families roots and perhaps they were not so dissimilar to his way back in history in the Feudal system.

Had some lovely Synchronicity the other day - a lady waved at me from a car and I swear to God it was Trin - hoho

Peace and light

A Wave

Some years ago people protesting against the Government was known as revels, opposition or insurgents. It was more notorious in countries where the authority was accommodated or supported by US or other powerful state.

Nowadays with the Middle East seems the majority of states agreed that popular protest is ok and should be fully supported and accepted. Maybe it also suits the interests of many but would they think the same if the wave goes to their own door? It is interesting ! Strong awakening indeed.

Blessings.
Monica

Austerity measures

Hi Ann,

Thanks for making me aware of that - I see all kinds of different groups uprising right now - about food price rises, energy, student loans and austerity measures etc. It's something that's going to increase strongly on our landscape in the coming months and years.

Just to be clear on the Openhand perspective, we don't support the system that sustains inflated wages so that we can all continue consuming at the rate we are. My family lives quite happily on an income of around £1000 per month which would be classed as well below the UK poverty line. Yet we don't feel poor, we just don't waste our money on unnecessary things. And we're very resourceful.

So I wouldn't be campaigning so that wages could be sustained at the current UK national average of £25k. I just see that as non-sensical and totally unrealistic in the medium to long term.

But I would campaign for equity - so it doesn't feel right that the super rich be given tax breaks whislt the poor are being squeezed by austerity measures.

I think the general principle here is that people realise the system itself is defunct, that we should let it crumble and campaign for the freedom to manage our own lives more productively in small communities for example - just as the Transition Towns which are beginning to spring up.

I can see it could well be a while before that happens, there'll gnashing of teeth and much clinging to the old systems before people are truly ready to cast off and find something more solid to 'float on'.

Fortunately, I've learned the art of patience!

The Silent Majority

Bravo! Bravo! for this article Chris.
The tide in indeed turning. We all need to see ourselves as individuals with a voice which needs to be heard. The walls are crumbling and the energy is shifting. The time of liberation is at hand.

It does not have to be grand gestures such as overthrowing governments but it may be. It may be simply refusing to buy into the manufactured dramas that have kept us all enslaved to fear of various kinds.
In order to release the dam it starts with taking the first brick away and that has now happened. The trickle has become a stream.I see a brighter dawn coming and for my granddaughter's sake I hope I am right.
Blessings to all!

Hi Chris - totally agree with you

Hi Chris - yes I totally agree with you about laws of attraction and the way we are depleting the worlds resources

Like you we went through our credit crunch very early and live on about the same budget as you - never realised we were under the poverty line - nice to know

My personal opinion has always been that IT HAS TO BEGIN WITH ME - I can't expect other people to change if I am not willing to do so myself.

But in taking lower paid work and learning to live on less I am much more than abundant - I have found myself - and no longer need the trappings of Worldy Success to make myself feel good - this all comes from a fear based society that we know needs to come down.

I also find that I do not have too much compassion for those who are loosing their jobs at the moment - as I see it as inevitable if we are to find a better way to live

It's easy once you have come out of the other side and I can really see how the universe has supported me to find this better way of life.

Lets hope for a world where all the Children have learned to share their sweets in the playground - to me it's that simple

Compassion

I feel very strongly that Compassion needs to be felt for all those who are less well off than we find ourselves to be.

You cannot write off a sector of society for whatever reason, we are all one energy and what is happening to another we are also involved in energetically. We are all part of the whole and the whole needs to experience all aspects of life so that we may all learn and grow as spiritual beings.

If those who are loosing their jobs - because society has become materialistically driven - end up on the street, would you not feel compassion for them then? Yes, it is their learning if they end up with nothing, but are we all going to 'walk by on the other side' and ignore the problem, because we are not directly involved - even though we have an indirect involvement through being part of Universal Energy.

It is through burying our heads in the sand that we have come to this point and we all share joint responsibility for society having ended up where it is now. We cannot ignore the casualties, but we can support them.

There will always be casualties of whatever happens. I feel as a member of the 'family of humanity', that it is important to support and help others through difficult times, but not to 'do it for' as that would be taking away valuable learning for their own personal soul growth.

However, for something to be rebuilt, something has to be sacrificed and dismantled. You cannot build something new on old foundations because they would not be sound enough - there would be no energy match with what is being constructed.

If something makes us feel uncomfortable, or bring up negative and uncaring thoughts, then we should be aware enough to know that we look inside for the reason, or the roots, of why?

I agree we need a more 'even' society where the divides are less - however, as one energy, we all have our part to play in the development and growth of the whole. As Richard Bach said in 'The Adventures of The Reluctant Messiah' - 'There is no such thing as a problem without a gift for you in its hands. You seek problems because you need the gifts they bring'. We are all here to learn and when people come into our lives, or awareness, then there is a lesson in that for us as individuals - awareness is recognising and acknowledging this. Human beings, by their very nature, are flawed, and there are no exceptions to this, we are all here to learn.

Sorry this is so long, I felt it was important for me to say it.
Angie.

Compassion - Oooh hit a nerve

Hi Angie

I think you misinterpreted my meaning - I said NOT TOO MUCH COMPASSION - not that I didn't have any.

A lot of my friends have lost their jobs over the last few years - and from my perspective it has led them towards enlightenment.

Also many people I know now would love to extract themselves from the MATRIX - but are too fearful - so loosing their jobs for them could be a blessing.

I was once on the homeless list myself so know what it feels like.

My REALLY strong compassion has always been with the 25,000 or so people in the world who die every day of starvation.

I have asked the question from several of my spiritual teachers in the past that = if I take more than I need am I depriving other people in the world - and the answer has always come back YES.

Peace and Light

job loss has been a blessing

Hi everyone! In response to the last couple of posts, here's my story...

I was laid off from a well-paying finance job two years ago. The people I met and experiences I had during this time have step by step made me a more spiritually evolved person. My spiritual progress has grown exponentially in these two years. A demanding job would not have allowed me the time and energy to open myself to these experiences. I feel like this was a divine plan all long.

I have no desire to go back to my previous career. I now have a much lower-paying teaching job that I love. My income and consumption is much lower, and I do not feel financially insecure because I have more faith and acceptance now than ever before.

Everyone's situation is different; and I was fortunate to have some savings and support to get me by during unemployment. But the point is, what seemed like a bad thing at first turned out to be part of a much bigger good thing. So whenever I hear about someone losing a job, I feel hopeful that they will find their way to bigger and better things in life!

Freedom from the illusion of separateness

Hi Nika,

Welcome to Openhand and thanks for sharing your story - I'm sure it will be a great inspiration to many others.

In the work we do, we frequently experience how when people loose a job or career, it can inspire a spiritual evolution just like yours.

Its clear to me that such 'full-on' jobs in society, can keep people locked into conditioning and the illusion of separateness.

Keep shining!

Chris Smile
