Brave new world

If like us you try to read between the lines of global events, you don’t have to dig too deep to find patterns of activity that suggest we are accelerating towards times of great turbulence and unrest. Take your pick from global warming to nuclear terrorism, our society is writing cheques it can no longer cash.

How might awakening people deal with a world facing large scale unrest? Is there a future for us at all? If so, what would it be?

This thread "Brave New World" offers the platform for us to explore these most important issues...

Two overlapping worlds

It is my view that if we watch the patterning of all global events and follow our internal guidance mechanism making only those choices that come from the heart, then ultimately we will be lead to the inescapable conclusion that currently there are two separate but overlapping realities operating in our lives.

One reality is that of the mass subconsciousness of humanity - a fear based reality founded on the inner sense of lack and a perceived need to struggle for things we think we want. A self perpetuating matrix of conditioned behaviours and controlling thought forms is locking people into an unsustainable way of existence which is raping our planet.

Superimposed on top of this however is a glorious web of light which can be accessed when we let go of our attachments to the material plane and move into the heart.

If we have the courage to let go, we will be lead on a journey liberating us from the matrix and leading to a way of life which supports our authentic truth which is at one with mother earth.

Awakening people across the planet have searched for the mystical 'Avalon' or 'Shambala' as it is known. This brave new world however is not to be found in some alternative dimension, it is here all around us. We just have to find it.

Global catastrophe is becoming increasingly likely. Take your pick from unsustainable personal debt, world famine, nuclear terrorism or global warming, we have built our society on sand and the tide is coming in.

There is no need for awakening people to fear however. If we stay in the heart and follow the guidance we receive, it is my belief that we will be lead to safety. But the time for sorry excuses and procrastination is at an end. As Winston Churchill eloquently said before the start of World War II, we are entering an era of consequences.

So how can we follow the path of the heart? How can we find our own personal Shambala? If you are uncertain about receiving and interpreting guidance, it would be best to find out soon.

The way forward, with the heart

I am overcome with sadness at the scale of ignorance on the earth. The ways of this world are not sustainable. I am surprised that would anyone think differently (yet many don't have a clue!). Anything to prevent global disaster has by far been outweighed by ignorance and greed.

I doubt that we can turn back the tide of destruction. The only thing left to do is be ourselves, and allow the guidance of heart to help us move forward. I would personally highly recommend the Openhand courses for helping us to slice right through the illusion making our path of the heart abundantly clearer.

Thank you Chris for bring such an important message forward at this critical time. I look forward to reading more.

Overlapping Worlds

Hi Chris!

Another enlightening read....

Question?

Do you feel that the people who come into their awakening still relate "heart" as an emotion rather than "truth"?

I find in my experiences that if I express the word heart rather than truth to those just waking up so to speak, they seem to have a more difficult time when understanding the detachment process.

I always hear "well I do lead with my heart and all I get is walked all over" therefore lack the understanding.

I am curious to hear about your experiences in this respect.

Flowing from nothing

Well done Lori - a person of my own 'heart' so to speak!

Yes I believe you are absolutely right! When most people speak of the 'heart', what they are really referring to are emotions. Conversely if you speak of 'truth', many tend to get locked into the mind about what 'truth' is!

I much prefer to talk about flowing from the absolute - from nothing

Collapse of society?

Many people have predicted in the past that society was on the brink of collapse and it never happened. However if we observe the patterning behind global events right now, we could be forgiven for thinking we are now standing at the brink of disaster of cataclysmic proportions.

Firstly, take a look at global warming. If you haven’t seen the video “An Inconvenient Truth” by the ex US presidential candidate “Al Gore”, you should really see it (video clip here). He has painstakingly collated information (beyond governmental spin) about what is really going on. The changes that are happening are without doubt going to have radical effects on our weather patterns from tornados to drought effecting many millions of people. Even advanced western economies would struggle to deal with the effects of hundreds of millions of refugees - look at a relatively miniscule event like New Orleans for example.

Secondly, despite the fact that they really should have known better, (Vietnam, Northern Ireland etc etc), the Bush/Blair governments have ignited a powder keg of hate that IS spreading like a cancer around the globe. If they needed the experience in Iraq as a reminder, they still don’t seem to have got the message as they now rattle sabres with both Iran and Syria. No wonder scientists around the globe are saying we are now closer to nuclear war than ever we were during the cold war (read 'nuclear threat to world rising').

Another issue of great concern is the level of personal debt in the world. Take for example in the UK where has passed the £1.1 trillion mark. Why is this important? If a major disaster were to strike, then business would be greatly interrupted especially if we are still reliant on oil. It wouldn’t take long for insolvency's to accelerate (they already are) and then the level of unemployment would rapidly escalate leading to potentially mass personal bankruptcies. It doesn’t take long for this to become a depression like that of the 1930s.

Things are radically different in the world now though - our society is even more exposed because we are much less self sufficient. In fact the majority are wholly dependent on the state to provide lighting and heating and on supermarkets to provide food. We saw what happened last year in the UK when there was a brief localised fuel blockage - there was mass panic buying and within a few days, both fuel was out and the supermarket shelves were practically empty.

So it wouldn’t take much for the whole of society as we know it to collapse like a deck of cards. In view of the seemingly ridiculous short term decisions made by western politicians, some form of collapse is becoming increasingly inevitable.

So what can we do about it? This is the purpose of our new forum “Sustainable Living” - to discuss and provide information for people wishing to prepare and protect themselves from the effects of some form of catastrophe.

More importantly than that, sustainable living brings us back into harmony with the soul of the earth which helps us to unfold who we really are. Your views on sustainable living would be greatly welcomed.

Taking action...

There are many practical things that people can put into action right now to reduce their exposure to a possible collapse in the services provided by society. Here are just a few that spring to mind:

  • Personal debt
Firstly reduce your level of personal borrowing including house mortgages - if you were to loose your job, you might struggle to make mortgage repayments. If our monthly outgoings are greatly reduced, we are less dependent on society to provide work
  • Relocation
If some form of catastrophe were to strike, the least secure place to live is in the cities. Previous experience shows that in chaotic circumstances the level of violence radically increases as 'mob mentality' takes over - New Orleans was a prime example
  • Reduce dependency
We have been conditioned into requiring a whole range of goods and appliances from what we wear, what we put on our skin to how we entertain ourselves. If we were to suddenly loose these things, it can be deeply unsettling. The truth is we really need very little and would greatly benefit anyway by reducing our dependency
  • Resourcefulness
Discover the true meaning of abundance - which is to be abundantly resourceful. If we open our minds and trust in the guiding hand of the universe, we would find that we would be guided to all our needs through recycled goods and service exchange rather than always resorting to buying new
  • Food and water
Take time and learn how to grow your own food - a skill that comes naturally. If you don't have a garden, look to find an allotment perhaps working as a collective with others. If possible seek your own water supply (may seem inconvenient but its vital!)
  • Alternative power
Explore using alternative power sources and supplies. For example can you switch to a smaller car which can run on vegetable oil? Most diesels will - investigate on the web sources of help and information. Are you able to purchase solar panels for your house? Can you use open fires and candles as opposed to gas and electricity?
  • Form self sustaining communities
Many small groups of people are beginning to pool resources (including equity) to form small self sustaining communities. It might seem like a huge step to take but it is an extremely wise one and perhaps the best method we have of insulating ourselves against unrest

These are just a few ideas to stimulate thinking. One of the most powerful resources we have is the internet. There is a wealth of information and help on what can be done. The key is to start preparing now - seize the day!

Modern society built on unstable foundations...

I remember the fuel blockades that brought the UK to a standstill seven years ago. Protestors ensured that oil didn't leave the refineries and fuel depots for two and a half weeks! The implications of this were enormous. The fuel stations ran dry, supermarkets were wiped clean of (so called) essentials and fresh produce, commuters couldn't go to work, postal service was disrupted, schools closed down, hospitals suspended services, farm animals were threatened with starvation as their food supplies failed to get through.

This to me is an excellent example how a society can begin to collapse so rapidly. Alarm bells have been ringing loud and clear. Society has a build a foundation on sand. A structure that could EASILY collaspe during unsettling times, leaving behind masses without a clue about how to survive.

It may sound radical, but the nuts and bolts of the matter is that modern society is one big disaster waiting to happen!

Just think about the New Orleans hurricaine disaster as an example of how a 'civilised' society can completely break down into lawlessness and chaos. Within a week there were numerous deaths whilst the crime rates shot through the ceiling (often in attemps to survive).

We have been warned. The question now, is who is taking note?

Self sufficient living...

Awesome list of practical considerations Chris...

As we know self sufficiency is not just about expensive solar panels and a field full of wind turbines. There are endless thing we can begin to do right now.

Governing a price...

Hi Trin!

I was reading the self-sufficient site. Interesting indeed!

It would be great if everyone got on board, and there was a mass movement, but I can't help wonder...

Government would find some sort of way to implement tax on raising this sort of awareness. Sad

I hope this time people will take a stand with the ALL OF IT!

I don't know how it is in your end of the world, but where I live we are taxed on everything with the exception of breathing air!

We are power, hear us roar!!!

I have noticed that sustainable living seems to either be a catalyst for spirituality or vice versa. I am extremely blessed that my professional life is devoted to sustainable living as well as my personal. I am so glad I live AND work with and in my passion (and didn’t listen to parental advice on my career!)
Often sustainable living can be too hard basket, involving information overload. I have come across many people who feel that sustainable living creates a heavy weight on themselves when they discover how little they perceive they are doing and how much they could be achieving to support mother Earth. So it is often said, ‘I can’t make a difference, its too hard’.
So I say, start simple.
One skip at a time. Next time you run out of shampoo, skip down (instead of driving) to your local health food store (or internet it) to purchase a cost effective, artificial chemical free product (good for you and the environment) or better yet make your own.
Reuse the bag. Take reusable bags everywhere, keep them at work, in your car and at home. If needs be tie them to your door handle and put a sign on your steering wheel (if you’re like me and have a tendency to be ‘off with the fairies’ and forget). This is a great start to reducing your waste.
Buckets Rock. Take advantage of the buckets lying around your house, put them in the shower to catch water overflow, place them under your washing machine hose to catch all that water that gets lost and use the excess water to garden and flush your toilet.
There are so so many simple tips that will cost you nothing and require such minimal effort that after one go you won’t even notice your doing them until someone who doesn’t points it out to you. Tips are all over the net and stored in your mind.

Thank the Earth everyday for your breath, Gaia thrives on gratitude and love and it’s a fantastic pathway to waking up her power and awareness in us all. We are all connected as you know so your awareness is a catalyst for many others.

Finally please don’t let the government get you down. Remember that they are based and elected on people power. In the beautiful, fortunate society I live in they have little to no say on my choice of shampoo and what I do with my bags and buckets.
The population is made up of individuals and outcomes of their choices. Imagine if half of us humans were all to pick up one item of litter tomorrow and place it in the bin (or better yet recycle and reuse) , just one, can you comprehend the change in our environment….that’s roughly 3.25 billion pieces of litter. Wow, what power we have. As well as the big picture, keep a connection with the all important little one. Keep this potential in mind everyday to keep your potential expanding (it can be applied to so many concepts).

As the Dali Lama says (roughly quoted) “If you think you cannot make a change in this world, remember the impact of one mosquito in a closed room whilst you try to sleep’.

Let’s all be mosquitos for the day and live our truth regardless of who is sleeping.

Sarah

At one with mother nature

I couldn't agree with you more Sarah - on all counts.

To those who think they can't make a difference with sustainability, I would say (just as you point out) that sustainability and spirituality are interlinked - in extricably.

We are living 'spiritual lives' - so within us is a natural connection to mother earth - looking after her and being at one with her is a natural state found within. So if our motivation can changee from thinking 'we have to be sustainable' to 'why on earth would I choose to pollute my best friend?' then being sustainable becomes a joy not a chore.

Just as you say, there are many things to remember - but only if we see it as a necessary discipline. If it comes from the heart, it is a natural expression of who we are. If haven't yet found sustainability as a natural expression - its because we haven't yet looked deep enough within!

Just as an aside - I remember the first time I started picking up sweet wrappers from road side verges when I had a spare moment. I felt a wave of joy wash over me causing me to look up. A gust of wind caught the bush in front - the leaves seemed to be waving at me. Just then, a sweep wrapping blew right past my hand. I picked it up and opened it out - it had a big star on it!

Who says you can't talk to mother nature - we just have to learn the language!

Alignment with our authentic selves

It seems to me that the choice towards sustainable living ultimately rests in whether or not our actions are in alignment with our authentic selves. As Chris mentions, it is from here compassionate action emerges as a natural expression of being who we 'truly' are.

To me, it is not so much about 'saving the planet' (despite how much as I would personally choose this!!!), but rather flowing from the heart (in its truest sense) with complete trust that 'right action' will follow (whether that be to save mankind from its own destruction OR to end the misery and suffering of Mother Earth by excellerating the impact of war and disease to downsize the destructive population of the planet!). In other words, as long as we act from a place inspired by higher consciousness the outcome of our actions rests in the capable hands of the 'Divine'. Outcome therefore should not be our concern. In my experience, acting from this place of stillness inspires a vibration that aligns us with our authentic selves and invites compassionate action regardless of what everyone else on the planet is doing.

Personally, over the past decade or two I have found it increasingly more difficult to make choices that are incongruent with Mother Earth. This first began with changing the food I ate, then expanded to becoming actively involved in hands on environmental conservation work. Now, my lifestyle has radically changed (with continual refinement, I might add), and I feel deeply loving toward the Earth and its inhabitants. Peeling back layers of my own distortions has revealed a far more fine tuned 'me', that cannot ignore the calling within my heart that results in compassionate action.

Ideally, we'd all be aligned to higher consciousness, living at one with Mother Earth, one another and the universe. However we have no control over everybody else's choice. I find no other purpose in life than to take the opportunity to harmonise with the divine pull of the universe.

Re:... Hear us roar!

Sarah,
I am intrigued... please do tell more about your profession if you feel moved to? Sounds interesting.
Love your post! Wholeheartedly agree! Not sure if I'd choose to be a mozzie though Laughing out loud Interestingly though (in my experience), they only attack those who are not in harmony with the surrounding environment. I remember a friend who spent his days working in the rain-forest amongst swarms of mosquitoes, but was never bitten... he was so chilled and at one with these creatures, they took him to be part of the scenery Smiling

Slam Dunk!!!!

Hi Trin!!

you wrote....Mosquitoes
"they only attack those who are not in harmony with the surrounding environment."

This is truth!

I have been trying to explain this to people for years!

They are more inclined to buy some chemical induced repelent and apply this disgusting man-made thing on their body, or buy yet another polluting device such as a mosiquitoe magnet.

Like attracks like!

Great post Trin!

Hi Trin, I have an

Hi Trin,
I have an environmental science background and am currently working for the government in a position that invovles environmental education, policy writing and environmental monitoring. Its challenging at the best of times as there are a limited number of people in my workplace who care but its rewarding working with the community and schools to increase environmental awareness.
When I worked in South America in the amazon it was interesting to see some people get bitten alive by mosquitos while others remained almost bite free. I never thought of it that way...

Simple appreciation

Hi Sarah,

Sounds interesting. Seems unfortunate that many care little about the very planet that provides the air that sustains our breath.

Whilst on a country walk yesterday, watching flocks of birds, trees and enjoying the fresh air my (7yr old) son said to me "most people just don't seem to notice how much we have been blessed with all this amazing beauty and that it is a real gift of love". I was humbled yet again by the simplicity of such appreciation.
