Clarity of purpose

This morning I was digging in the garden, enjoying the spring sunshine and smell of soil, damp from the rain the day before. Saw a ladybird, and loads of busy worms doing their work along with me...I digress. I put my radio on and there was an interview with Camila Batmanghelidjh who founded Kids Company, a charity that helps for vulnerable children. She came from a wealthy Iranian family that were extremely privileged, but what struck me was she said she knew at 9 that she wanted to dedicate her life to underprivileged children. She said it was a spiritual need, not religious, a spiritual vocation. Amazing to be awake so young and to have such clarity and conviction, and to have carried that on throughout her life.

Sounds divine.

Sounds divine. I am mesmerised by the wildlife in our garden at the moment too. After four years here it appears that all the ladybirds in town have decided to take refuge in our garden. Chris told me this morning that the frogspawn have started to wriggle.

I always feel moved to know of people who devote their energies to those less fortunate than themselves. How interesting that Camila incarnated in a priviledged and wealthy family - perhaps the perfect circumstance to awaken her to her spiritual calling. Inspiring! Innocent If everyone honoured their true calling in life the world would be a different place.
