How do we create in harmony with higher consciousness?
Masters, sages and gurus have known for centuries how to manifest external experiences through creative intent. Many new age spiritual leaders speak of focussing the power of thought to ‘move mountains’. Is this possible? If so, how do you do it? Read on...

I would challenge the new age interpretation of this forgotten wisdom. Instead of ‘focussing thought’ I would substitute ‘knowing beyond doubt’ that 'unity consciousness' (the consciousness which unites us all) is manifesting something with you as the point of focus. But how do you know when you are being used as the point of focus for a creative act and how can you work in harmony with that creative intent?

In this plane of existence, I believe the challenge for us is to move beyond the desires of the separated self because we are unable to hold the magnitude of the bigger creative picture. So in my view the first goal needs to be to evolve to a point where we understand beyond doubt that we are an integrated part of the greater whole.

Having achieved this (no small matter!) we quieten the mind and emotions and open ourselves up to receive higher guidance. This can come in many forms - the quiet inner voice for example. The higher we are able to elevate our energetic vibrational frequency, the more we are able to resonate at higher levels of universal energy (Ki, Chi, Prana etc). The higher we vibrate, the more we expand our consciousness (the two go hand in hand) and the more we witness synchronicity in our lives.

In my view, this is because higher consciousness then begins to take note and recognises that we could be a selfless instrument of upliftment to others. The creative intent of unity consciousness can then work through us without being distorted by our perceived inner needs and desires. The consciousness then gradually begins to work with, or rather through us.

Highly evolved people have throughout history sometimes abused this power sometimes consciously and other times unconsciously. Where the act of manifestation appears to aggrandise an individual, it is often the case that the separated ego is at work somewhere within the process and the act of creation is less effective than it might otherwise be. Firstly because we are then applying a filter to the energy flow thereby causing it to resonate at lower more dense frequencies and secondly because it is geven less energy by higher consciousness recognising the work of the separated self rather than that of a selfless light worker. The more one is able to surrender individual will, the greater the assistance and resources we receive as witnessed through increasing synchronicity (occurrences of ‘coincidence’).

I believe we can expect to be thoroughly tested before we are trusted with a true part of the divine plan. It may often appear that the intent is for us to manifest a physical outcome and the energy may appear to be flowing through us all the way to a given objective only to come to a screaming halt just short of the ‘goal ‘. What is happening here? In my experience true detachment from an outcome is one of the key lessons to be integrated and the dissolution of the ego that wants the outcome for it’s own aggrandisement.

It can be exceptionally difficult for even a very spiritually evolved individual to recognise and acknowledge that their acts are in some way designed to elevate their own personal standing. This is because the lower personality often mimics the true selfless nature of the soul. In the esoteric view, this aspect of the personality is known as the ‘imposter’ with good cause (for a great discussion on the nature of the ‘imposter of the soul’ refer to...www.meader.org). The imposter has to be fully exposed, healed and integrated.

Once we have mastered the imposter of the soul we can truly be of service to higher evolved intelligence. Gradually the resources and contacts we need to manifest physical accomplishments ‘miraculously’ appear. So how do we help the process at this point? The energy can be quite diffuse because the learning that we are meant to integrate can be quite abstract - higher intelligence tends to work more with abstract concepts rather than simplistic black and white truths. So in my view, it is then our role to take this diffuse energy moving in a certain direction and bring it to focus in this dimension using the collective power of the integrated personality (mind, emotional and physical bodies). So to be truly effective, we don’t direct the energy, rather we sense the direction in which it is already moving and then channel and focus it.

I believe the sequence of this process is vital. Many times I have witnessed spiritual people and leaders attempting to create from a place that may appear to be selfless but on closer scrutiny is quite blatantly not. We think that because we are doing spiritual work, we will be unconditionally supported. This often leads to disappointment because we have not taken the trouble to thoroughly prepare the foundations of the self and to open ourselves to the direction and guidance of spirit. Consequently I witness much confusion, disappointment, frustration and sometimes disillusionment by people working in the spiritual arena.

The key to mastering this creative process then is to master one's own thought processes and emotions by keen observation of our creative intent behind all actions - are we doing things for the good of the whole or just for ourselves? I have found perhaps one of the most powerful explanations of working with unity consciousness is given in Alice Bailey's "A treatise on white magic".
