26/03/10: Learning skills for sustainable living
I recieved an email in my inbox this morning for an upcoming sustainable skills event very worthy of sharing... It's a week long event of workshops to learn the skills we need to survive and thrive into the new century. It's all about celebrating community, nature and creativity.
ECO SKILLS CELEBRATION
They have an excellent line up of workshops (lasting either 1 day or ½ day each) include: Keeping honey bees, cob building, wild foods, spoon carving and green woodworking, wilderness skills, pemaculture design, diesel to oil car conversion, wind turbines and making 'hempcrete', renewable energy and willow basket weaving...
In the evenings, there will be music around the fire, story-telling, films, and talks. We will celebrate our achievements at the weekend with live music, entertainment, and fun!
Ben Law will also be on site during the week, working on a round wood timber frame building for the Sustainability Centre. You can watch him work and he will be giving a talk to everyone during the week , about his house, his woodland, and the work he is doing.
For more details of his work, please visit www.ben-law.co.uk
The Beech Café will serve delicious meals using local, organic, vegetarian ingredients.
Camping is included in the price of the ticket (tickets cost between £155 and £215). Hostel Teepee and Yurt accommodation is also available for those who like their creature comforts!
