Finding freedom where karma can't hold you

"A buddha is someone who finds freedom in good fortune and bad. Such is his power that karma can't hold him. No matter what kind of karma, a buddha transforms it. Heaven and hell are nothing to him."

Bodhidharma (440 AD - 528 AD)

Not into the doctrine side of Buddhism although this quote I think is powerful and makes an interesting point. What do you make of it?

Re: Finding freedom where karma can't hold you

Hi LK,

Almost missed this one on the forum...
where have you been hiding Wink

This is such an awesome quote. It speaks of the ultimate state of human liberation... free of attachment to ALL, knowing with every cell of ones being that 'good' and 'bad', 'heaven' and 'hell' are judgements of the mind.

Thank you for sharing it.

...

this reminds me of a quote from Kahlil Gibran. (Sorry if I'm repeating this.)

"You shall be free indeed when your days are not without a care nor your nights without a want and a grief, But rather when these things girdle your life and yet you rise above them naked and unbound."

Rising above

Rising above all these things naked and unbound. Ahhhhhh! How appropriate. Lovely quote there Starstrata!

Thanks

Thank you, Lightkeeper. ^_^ He has some very inspiring words. I'm only grateful to be able to share in the wisdom of a soul like that...
