Are we really hurt by affairs of the heart?
"How many of you people out there been hurt in some kind of love affair and swear that you'll never love again?" So begins the song "Brand New Day" by Sting. Its one of my favourites and as I meditated this morning on Valentine's Day it came into my awareness, so I thought I'd share the video with you all here below...

Of course many of us would probably say we've been hurt in 'love affairs of the heart', but are we really hurt by them? If we could perhaps take the Observer's view point for a moment and stand back from the drama, perhaps we might see that every experience offers us the opportunity to discover something even more profound about ourselves.

There will come a time when we're able to see all lovers as reflections of ourselves and know that these divine partners are simply activating and radiating back to us that which is already present. So even if the relationship ends and we go our separate ways, and even if this brings pain in a very human way, hopefully we'll be able to find and take with us the love we had for them in our hearts - it is really of course the love we have for ourselves!
