Has Christmas gone crackers?

Its that time of year again! Mile upon mile of fairy lights blazening the night sky, stuffed turkey dinners with toothless Aunt Maude, expectant stockings at the end of the bed awaiting the latest gucci-must-have-gadgets, Christmas cards to Mrs Wottsaname name next door who barely exchanges words with us. What’s the point of Christmas? Has the truth been lost somewhere along the way? What are your views?...

i agree

I share your sentiment Chris.
I feel that people on the whole seem more unconscious than usual at this time of year when it could be a time to show love to one another.
i find as each christmas comes round it becomes increasingly harder to stomach.
At any time of the year if i want to buy something i have to ask myself "DO I REALLY REALLY NEED THIS"
It's a question more people could consider asking themselves.

Dido!!

A few candles, music, family and friends would be plentiful and joyful.

Ahhhh....Simplicity!

Gentle Christmas

Likewise... simplicity.

My young lad and I have joyously harnessed our resourceful nature making a few cards and gifts from that which we have available. Only do we offer if it is truly from the heart. Simple sweetness and joy, gentle celebration and sincerity making for a beautiful occasion.

Christmas blessings

How true, I agree with you all. I loved the main article too Chris

It goes without saying that the original reason of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of the baby, Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. The story seems to have been lost in a chaotic celebration of expectation and financial burden, or at the least, it is often just tagged on the end. I'm not religious, but I do feel a connection to this soul of the utmost compassion and love and I feel that however the story has been lost throughout the years, it still represents an incredible gift of compassion to humankind.

Still not sure if I could say what the true meaning of Christmas is, but it seems like an opportunity to remind ourselves of the depth of love that we are capable of realising. If that's all we glean from the celebrations this year, then we've been blessed!

Blessings and Love to all of you!
