"Masters of circumstance"

How may we achieve joy and happiness in life?
Joy and happiness in life arise by making the right choices. So how do we make the right choices? How can we avoid being the victims of the 'wrong' outcomes in life and instead become the masters of all circumstances?

To me the key to answering these questions lies first in understanding that each moment is pre configured to invite us to make choices. We are not subjected to hap hazard seemingly random events. No. Hard as it may be to believe, each moment is chosen to reveal something...

Why do I believe this?

Speaking as a converted atheist, I have been caused to see that there is a pattern behind all events. When I am being in the place of the observer of myself in all circumstances, I notice that each moment seems to reveal where I get attached to a particular outcome.

I engage myself within activity and sure enough, sooner or later there comes a tendency to loose myself in the activity that I’m trying to bring about. It could be something as simple as zipping up my trousers or brushing my teeth. It seems that as soon as we think we know what the outcome of the moment should be, we loose ourselves in manifesting that outcome. The mind wanders off somewhere else - after all why does it need to stay engaged if the outcome is already certain?

But what happens if we actually made the ‘wrong’ choice? What if I wasn’t truly meant to brush my teeth in that moment? What if something else was meant to happen instead?

Well of course this question pre supposes that there was a ‘right’ and a ‘wrong’ outcome in the first place. In my truth, through direct experience, there is a natural flow and order to all things. However, it is frequently not the one we would expect. The natural rythmn of the universe seems perfectly configured to break doctrines and beliefs brought about by mental programming. In short it seems to want us to be spontaneous and free in the moment to do what the heart pulls us to do.

Why so? Because when we as the soul liberate ourselves completely from attachment to an outcome, then we unfold into unity consciousness and once more embrace our destined birth right - union with God.

So maybe I wasn’t meant to brush my teeth because instead, just at that moment, the sun was streaming though my bedroom window providing a wonderful uplift - just what the ‘doctor’ ordered to kick start my day.

Of course to live this way does require what may seem like a radical change of perception and attitude. It would require us not to be constrained in a virtual prison of fixed appointments, schedules and other people’s expectations of us.

In our world of control, this may seem like a task of herculean proportions but in my experience, although it may seem this way, it is not. If instead we start to follow the choices of the soul instead of responding to conditioned programs, we find that we live more completely and wholly in the moment.

As expectation dies away of what we think or hope the moment ought to bring, instead unfolds another reality complete with magical synchronicity - it feels like the whole universe is speaking to us, because it is!

Living this way brings true happiness and joy because it frees us from the need for reality to be a certain way. It is then that we become the masters of circumstances rather than the victims of them.
