No regrets!

Fiona Reilly's picture

Yesterday I attended the funeral service of a colleague and friend who passed on rather unexpectedly. It was a beautiful celebration of her life with some touching tributes from her family and friends.

Two main things struck me. The first was how precious this life is and the importance of making the most of each and every moment. The second thing I wondered about was whether those loving sentiments and tributes had ever been truly and openly expressed to her when she was alive and well. It re-inspired me to express love, praise and positive regard to those who touch my life.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my love and gratitude to Trinity, Chris and all those wonderful Openhand souls and spirits who have touched and blessed my life... or a life. I feel full of heartfelt gratitude!

I felt to share Gareth Brook's perspective in his song - If tomorrow never comes - "So tell that someone that you love, just what you're thinking of..." (if you feel to, of course Smile)

Finally, this is one of the poems that was read at the service

SUCCESS
by Ralph Waldo Emerson

To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty,
To find the best in others,
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.

May we achieve such success during this precious life and live with no regrets, Om Shanti

Moving words

Thanks Fiona for the moving words of support.
The song and the poem are simply fantastic.
What a way to live!

Chris

back at you!

Fiona, thankyou for your lovely posting. The gift of your message costs nothing but is priceless to the people who receive it, as it is sincere and given with love.
The poem was super and I will be printing it off and putting it on the wall of my cubicle at work (see Dilbert). I have been questioning aspects of my life and the poem reminded me what are the true measures of a successful life. My conditioned behaviour is my responsibility and I have to deal with it as I try to seek my true self. What the messages like this do, is provide beacons to guide me. So my love and thanks also to Openhanders that have touched my life.

Thanks guys!

Thanks Chris, sometimes words feel so inadequate to express what I'm feeling... What a way to live indeed, I'll keep working on it, I greatly appreciate your guidance and support along the way Smile

Thanks Mark, I appreciate the feedback, it assists me in trusting more with whatever I feel moved to do! I've got the poem on a mug, so see it when I have a cuppa!!

Om Shanti

Shining stars!

Thank you Michelle and Trinity, I am at a loss for words, I feel very touched and humbled to receive such beautiful words from two amazingly wonderful souls.

I feel there's a lesson for me about learning to receive as well as learning to give, so thanks for that!

With much heartfelt love and gratitude, Fi
