"Openhand First Tuesday" - really high energy gathering

Dear Chris,

Many thanks for a lovely evening on our second "First Tuesday" What an
amazing house and wonderful setting for what turned out to be a really high
energy gathering.

Notes from a "Newies" perspective.

Funny thing - expectations. And funny thing trying to not have them when
you take part in something new. Having done yoga for nearly 20 years now, I
quickly assumed the corpse pose and deep relaxation with very little breath
ensued in a short period of time. The various poses were new yet familiar -
you come from a martial arts background and I quickly noticed that accuracy
was not required here - good in a way, but I know that I still have to move
with awareness and care knowing that I'll be very sore if I don't. I've got
so much to learn, so much to let go of.

The meditation was lovely and the energy work with which we ended the
evening, was - to me - a joyous opportunity to play beach ball with the aura
of everyone else present. I do believe that there has to be a bit of good
humour in all of this - sometimes we can end up taking ourselves oh, so
seriously.and I'm sure that all the spirits and guides who were there with
us liked the joyful experience too.

Lots of love,

Annette

Thanks for the feedback

Thanks for the feedback - great to receive it.

Accuracy is required in martial arts - very much so - but you're right I don't believe it's important for Openhand. Or rather actually it is important but it's not about following a perfect move according to one 'teacher'. The accuracy is inside ourselves. So I invite people to express the posture their body wants to perform. Rather than everyone following me. Of course guidance is necessary and there is still form but the idea is for formlessness to emerge out of the form.

I guess I do take things seriously and maybe that comes across. I find sometimes it is necessary to use discipline to break through dense vibration. But you're right, a sense of fun and joy should be able to emerge naturally out of the environment. I do sense having fun myself, maybe I'm just a bit more reserved about expressing it. Nothing to stop you expressing what you feel in a way that you would like to.

Thanks for coming on Tuesday. I found the whole evening deeply connected and very moving. I'm still reflecting and benefiting from it now.

Lots of love

Chris
