Openhand Summer Retreat 2006

Just a note to say that the Openhand Summer Retreat was very special indeed, and sincerely to thank everyone involved. Chris, Trinity, Lesley and Dave led the group in a really caring and special way.

For me, there were many highlights: a glimpse of the Absolute, heightened senses in the night walk, the sharing and penance of the sweat lodge, the preparation for and amazing experience of the firewalk, the gift of complete surrender, and the sweet still togetherness we experienced at the end of the final session. And also revealed was the awareness that there remain parts of myself still in darkness and pain: but to know this is valuable.

The group members were all great, a wonderful rainbow of different colours, each illuminating the others by contrast, and beautifully harmonising into a unity of shared energy, joy, and purpose.

The venue, Plas Taliaris, was quite special too: the tranquil and healing spirit of place supported us in our shared journey. The food and staff were great too.

To close, a quotation which resonates with me after this experience: it's from Sir Michael Tippett's moving oratorio A Child of Our Time:

I would know my shadow and my light,
so shall I at last be whole.

Thanks for energy and commitment

I'd just like to thank all of the participants on the recent Openhand Summer Healing Retreat for your energy, enthusiasm and commitment. It was a truly uveiling and joyful experience for everyone including the facilitators. I look forward to seeing you all again in the future!

Best wishes

Chris

Summer Retreat - a moment in time

This is from AS Byatt's exquisite novel "Possession". The words kept coming into my head whilst at Plas Taliaris as somehow they reflect the intensity of a moment, which is everything and nothing:

"Ah, how can we bear it?"
"Bear what?"
"This. For so short a time. How can we sleep this time away?"
"We can be quiet together, and pretend - since it is only the beginning - that we have all the time in the world."
"And every day we shall have less. And then none".
"Would you rather, therefore, have had nothing at all?"
"No. This is where I have always been coming to. Since my time began. And when I go away from here, this will be the mid-point, to which everything ran, before, and from which everything will run. But now, my love, we are here, we are now, and those other times are running elsewhere.

Huge thanks to all of you for making it such a wonderful safe space. And Awesomely ok.
With love, peace and light (sorry Chris, me and the dark stuff are having a short break right now.....can't handle any more tears!)
Hazel
