Profound lessons from a child
If you presented someone a fuji apple and asked them what colour it was, the likelihood is that they would tell you it was red.
Many years ago I recall hearing a teacher ask a young child the very same thing 'what colour is this apple?'.
Much to the bemusement of the teacher the child replied "It is white"!
In an attempt to educate the child the teacher promptly replied "No you are wrong, look here it's red".
The child looked puzzled. After carefully examination of the apple he took a swift bite and said "No, look here, it's white"!
The teacher realised that in fact she'd overlooked the fact that the red skin only forms a very tiny part of the overall colour of the apple, which indeed beneath the surface is mainly white.
The teacher was invited by this four year old to look 'within' the apple rather than judging it by the obvious external appearance. I saw a powerful metaphor within this inviting us all to look beyond the surface.A powerful metaphor for life itself!

How true!
You can't judge a book by looking at its cover!
