I am having a flashback moment! About 14 years ago, when I lived near Brighton, in Sussex, I used to host raw-vegan potlucks. People would come from, all-over, near and far, bringing along a dish of tasty, high vibrational food to share. We were all about making food with love, inspiring each other to find optimal levels of wellness. I noticed, over the years, how clean, high vibe eating seemed to activate spiritual awareness in my pot-luck friends. It felt as if cleaning the body, also cleaned the window to the soul. Everything seemed brighter and more vibration - a reflection perhaps of the innate beauty within all of us.
Delicious and Nutritious
Anyway, it was a real joy to see what the table would fill up with every time! My good friend Mark always, but always, brought a raw vegan mousse. With good reason too – it was delectable. In those days raw-foodies didn’t eat chocolate, so Mark would use carob instead. There are a zillion, super-healthy ways to make a raw mousse, so if there is something you don’t like then you can easily swap and change. In this recipe I particularly enjoy. Perfect if you feel like something delicious and nutritious, but only have a few moments to spare.
What’s in it?
Avocado might sound a bit odd in a dessert, but it really works a treat. It brings in a luxurious creaminess, like nothing else could. Importantly it's very nourishing soul food too! Just make sure your avocado is ‘buttery’ ripe. The banana is the main sweetener here; however, if you fancy something different then swap it out for medjool dates. Add extra maple syrup or coconut sugar/nectar to achieve your desired sweetness.
Raw Chocolate Mousse Recipe with Avocado & Banana
- ½ ripe avocado
- 1 ripe banana
- 2 heaped tablespoons raw cacao powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Maple syrup or coconut sugar (optional extra)
- Pinch of sea salt (optional extra)
It's super easy.... blend until creamy smooth with a hand blender.
Be sure to check out my 40 second video above for a super fast visual guide as to how to make it.
I hope that you enjoy this as much as we do here.
