"Still haven't found what I'm looking for"

'God' often 'speaks' to us in the lyrics of popular songs and one which came to me recently was the song "Still haven't found what I'm looking for" by U2. I was somewhat perplexed because I really do feel like I've found what I'm looking for - the love of the divine within. So I pondered on what I was supposed to learn from these words but found difficulty understanding. Then I spent some time with my children and it suddenly dawned on me. Children see the wonder in everything. If they are living in a loving environment, they completely and wholey live in the moment. They have little concept of the past or the future - and yet they still keep searching for something new.

I realised that this is divine love expressed in external experience - the joy of life in the physical world. If we can stay living in the moment and love every aspect of it, we have no need to search for anything else except.... the next moment!

So perhaps to be in a permenant state of "Still haven't found what I'm looking for" is precisely what we are looking for....and having found it, we can have total peace of mind while doing it! The lyrics of the song are awesome. Click the link below to read them...

I have climbed highest mountain

I have run through the fields

Only to be with you

Only to be with you

I have run

I have crawled

I have scaled these city walls

These city walls

Only to be with you

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

I have kissed honey lips

Felt the healing in her fingertips

It burned like fire

This burning desire

I have spoke with the tongue of angels

I have held the hand of a devil

It was warm in the night

I was cold as a stone

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

I believe in the kingdom come

Then all the colors will bleed into one

Bleed into one

Well yes I'm still running

You broke the bonds and you

Loosed the chains

Carried the cross

Of my shame

Of my shame

You know I believed it

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for...
