So it was voters day in Greece and the world's financial markets were hanging by a thread. It was the very day that a US tightrope walker inched his way across the Niagra falls. Don't you just love the synchronicity! As it happens, despite tiredness, mist and slippery wetness, the Greeks too crossed a tightrope and voted this time for more EU austerity bail-out money. Maybe they'll make it for a while, supported by a new 'bank'. But surely, there comes a time when you just have to surrender and dive into the flow...
Sexy spirituality
I know in the world of spirituality economics is not always 'sexy', it's not been the most popular material we've featured on Openhandweb. Yet for me, I find it fascinating, enthralling even. Why? Because it represents the physical 'out-picturing' - the manifestation - of where the group Human consciousness currently is...
- It's like a bell-weather on a boat, the canary in the coal-mine.
Many people are complaining about 'the system', yet society is simply the creation of our inner configuration of consciousness. To me, Greece is such an important metaphor because of it's ancient representation of everything that the so called 'civilised' world stands for.
- So what is the election result telling us?
To me it says that right now society is teetering on a tight rope. The Greek economy represents just 4% of the world's economy, yet markets across the world were poised, hanging on every vote, keyboards ready to crackle should the unthinkable finally happen.
- And what is the unthinkable?
It is that people will finally wake up in sufficient numbers to throw out the system of control that blinds them from the truth. This of course is just what the Icelanders did in 2008 when they rejected decades of punishing central bank loans, kicked the government into touch and created their own constitution.
Prepare to be patient
In a way then, this morning, my heart is a little heavy and sad that the Greeks didn't follow suit and that the status quo will be supported a while longer at least. But I also know that Rome wasn't unbuilt in a day! I'm prepared to be patient. Humanity has waited for thousands of years to throw off the shackles of Opposing Consciousness.

Right now the Greek election says humanity is finally balanced, hanging precariously above the flow, right on the edge, clinging to the last gasp tight rope. But there will come a time, in the not-too-distant-future when tired limbs fail and the heart takes over, diving people into the realigning torrent.
It feels like I've been waiting a long time for this. We are close. Very close. And I'm prepared to be patient!

Monetary unwinding
18 June, 2012 - 13:33 — DavidWhat happened there? the last I heard was that the favourite party to win was not in favour of the austerity measures, it seems like it got thwarted at the last moment.
I guess I had some hopes riding on the chance that this could have been a big step in the long overdue unwinding of the euro, and in turn the rest of the monetary system.
Oh well, can't be long now.

Same unfolding drama

Greek Elections
19 June, 2012 - 14:18 — VasoHi,
The result of the elections was very disappointing. Basically as a result of the elections 'pasok' and New democracy' have formed a coalition again. Which means that nothing has changed. The same people that Greeks were demonstrating against for so long, the same people have been elected again.
The biggest surprise however was that 450,00 people voted for Golden Dawn. This is very interesting as it is the first time that they manage to get more than one seats in Parliament. Those people are NeoNazis although they dont describe themselves like this in public. However they hail to each other using the Nazi salute. They used to be a small group but now Golden Dawn has 19 seats in Parliament. I mean this is unacceptable. People are so afraid that they feel they need drastic measures to help them get out of this situation. They are so desperate that they think that the means that the Golden Dawn uses in order to exercise control is the only solution.
In the first elections Golden Dawn had won 21 seats. After the incident in the video most would expect that Greeks would reconsider voting for them. The worst is that most of the members of the Golden Dawn if not all, they have the same behaviour. Members have been accused for many crimes in the past. and some of them have been sentenced for murders against immigrants etc. Kasidiaris is also due to go on trial for another incident and he is accused of being an accomplice in the mugging of a student.
I am not sure i can describe the situation in Greece. Because of the crisis people are starving there. There are many roberries and fights and murders in the streets.
One crusial problem which led many thousands of people to vote for Golden Dawn is the problem of immigrants. I think because people are tired and desperate of the situation in Greece, they are trying to put the blame on someone and this time is immigrants. Its true that there are many immigrants and many of them are illegal but they are victims of the situation too.
Golden Dawn had promised people that they will deal with immigrants if they were elected. They are literally everyday in the streats attacking immigrants for no reason, just because they are not Greeks. Most of them end up in hospitals. This may sound extreme but its the truth. Just the other day i was listening to the radio and an immigrant fisherman who lives in Greece for many years and has a family there, he is in hospital because he was bitten almost to death.
They have also won the vote of old people because they offer them protection. They are out in the streets helping old people to go to the banks for example and withdraw money. It is sad but its truth that old people are afraid of going out of their houses because they rob them. Its not only immigrants that steal but people of Golden Dawn are very racists so they put the blame only on them. I was talking with a friend who lives in Athens today. She was telling me that their people are everywhere and they have weapons on them. This is true as some of them have been accused for illigal weapon possession. The tragety is that those people have been voted by Greeks, not once but twice.
Of course Golden Dawn is not the only political party that shouldn't be in Parliament. But it was the biggest surprise in these elections.
As i said i cant describe how chaotic the situation is, its like a war. The students faint during classes hours because they are starving, and many schools are closed. People ask for common meals. On the top of that, Greece faces the problem of AIDS epidemic.
It is no wonder why people are desperate and don't know how to react. They can not think clearly and they voted for people that they think they can control the situation even by using extreme measures.

Lightworkers needed
19 June, 2012 - 15:27 — Chris BourneThanks for sharing Vaso - a powerful picture - I know you are not far away being in Cyprus.
You have to question why is all this happening? I'd say there's much comparison to what happened in Germany prior to the Second World War: extremely punitive and punishing reparation costs in the 1930's by the Allied Governments caused extremism and nationalism to happen - a very similar parallel.
Greece - and other countries - have been forced into a controlling, unifying system which ultimately does not serve. It's like trying to fit square pegs into round holes.
What's happened is a pressure cooker has been created
and unless the steam is taken out of it very soon,
it's going to boil over.
I'd say it represents a powerful picture of many areas in the world. We need to stop underpinning the globalised destructive system, let it fall apart and start building local communities again, where people help and work with one another. These communities can form bridges of transformation and change as the world around shifts into the higher paradigm.
It looks like chaos will break out in many areas. But I also see that strong, committed individuals and groups of all sizes can connect with people and find the light amidst the darkening situation. I'd say that's what this is all about. I feel that strongly in my soul. We need increasing numbers of lightworkers to stand up and take the lead. I believe that will happen. It already is.

I really liked your sharing
21 June, 2012 - 08:46 — DavidI really liked your sharing Vaso, a perspective that I have not heard before.
It is really interesting that people would vote for a party that has, well lets put it this way, doesn't have everyones best interest at hearts. I see this as a reflection of the fear that so many people hold onto, being mirrored back in the seemingly desperate choices they make.
I'm sure that in most peoples hearts they would not want to inflict pain or suffering onto another being, but when they are faced with the possibility of the unknown, I guess people become desperate and try to cling onto any last strings of security they can, even if that means putting people in power that want to control and dominate.
I find it fascinating that as a species we behave in such a disconnected way, protecting, controlling, holding onto.....onto what, one big illusion, that we are going to be ok, that are families are going to be ok.
From my experience, that tight fearful grip that so many people have on life, is strangling the very essence of living that I believe we are all yearning for. I am reminded of a powerful Openhand quote:
"There is a natural flow through all
events and circumstances in our lives...
just like a waterfall flowing endlessly to the ocean.
To be in perfect harmony in life is to align with this flow,
and to align with this flow, we must first release.
Let go. Open your hand."

Queueing for food
22 June, 2012 - 05:17 — Chris BourneThe image below is of starving people in Greece now queueing for food. It's a powerful indictment of why control of other countries within a system like the EU does not work.
It's vitally important that Awakening People understand and appreciate how Gaia's shift in consciousness is going to effect everyone in the years ahead. The rosy manifesting abundance bubbles will burst and we have to get real. And there is nothing to fear from reality, because the truth sets us free.
My heart goes out to the people of Greece. I know they (and many more) face great hardship in the times ahead. But I feel in my heart, the only way we're going to truly bridge the transition of consciousness now taking place across our planet, is by becoming more self-sustaining and less dependent on other countries due to the exploitation of now dwindling oil. Greece could be your country tomorrow. We need to do something about it today!
It's time for us all to act local and grow local.

Ironic
22 June, 2012 - 05:47 — Chris BourneAnd isn't it ironic that Greece play Germany in Euro 2012 tonight? I love football. But isn't it time we got our priorities sorted out?
This is why society needs a heavy dose of the truth.
I feel the winds of change gathering strength.
Time to get real.

Hi Chris and
22 June, 2012 - 09:57 — VasoHi Chris and David,
Thanks.
David you describe the situation perfectly. 'in most peoples hearts they would not want to inflict pain or suffering onto another being, but when they are faced with the possibility of the unknown, I guess people become desperate and try to cling onto any last strings of security they can, even if that means putting people in power that want to control and dominate.' thats exactly whats hapening in Greece right now too.
There are many reasons why people voted 'New Democracy' (the party taht gained the highest percendage) and the main reason was the fear that the politicians spread that if the more progressive party would be elected that would be the end of the great Greek Nation. There would be no commemorates and parades for the National holidays, the history would change and the Christianity wouldnt be tought in schools any more. And if Greece would exit Euro that would be the end of Greece because they would be left without help. Of course the other party never claimed they would change all those things but in the fear that they may do it, many people did not vote for something new and chosed to stick with what they knew.
I think one other reason may be that people don't want to admit they made mistakes and that the situation is too serious. I say that because there are many homeless people in the streets. Most of them they used to have money and a house to live in. Many of them refuse help from people that go there to give them blankets, some food etc, and are aggressive towards them. Maybe some of them are too angry and too proud to accept that Greeks were wrong and that its their fault too and that they now need help.
One positive thing is that people have already begun to leave cities and go back to live in their villages and to the countryside. And many people do become more self sustained and they start to grow their own food. People have also become more compassionate. There are so many that although they dont have much they offer some to the less lucky.
Also people find alternative ways in order to help one another, for example alternative economic models. Or the 'potato movement', where potatoes and other agricultural produce are being sold directly to people by their producers, at a much lower price.
Thanks
Vaso
