"Uh! Open your eyes and look within,
Are you satisfied with the life you're living?
We know where we're going,
We know where we're from.

We're going to our Father's land."

John Hartford
Hi guys,
For inspiring, emotive and fun-loving music, or just something that will make you laugh its always John Hartford for me.
He wrote Gentle On My Mind which is one of the most covered songs of all time, became really famous and then retired early to be a steam boat captain on the Mississippi river. Truly inspiring person who followed his joy to the end and never became egoistic through fame.

Music to calm
I find the music of Massive Attack soOoo ;-) enjoyable, especially the Mezzanine Album. My Light family introduced me to them when I started my conscious journey, that might have something to do with the buzz it gives me... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCwfUX58IZw
Good Vibrations
Thanks for this awesome link and songs! Here's one called "So They Say" by a Canadian rock band, Soul Attorneys. A big hit in the 90's. It always inspires me to lead from the heart and keep going, one step at a time -- no matter what. Catherine :)
Return To Innocence
I mean come on who ain't heard of this one? "Enigma - Return To Innocence". It's the first tune I'm gona have to share one here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk_sAHh9s08
In the first few moments of the clip, you see an old man grateful just coz he has a pear. Wow
Don't be afraid to be Weak
Don't be too proud to be Strong
Just look in to your Heart my Friend
That will be the return to Yourself
The return to Innocence
But I shared it coz people on here would relate & resonate, but I'm a young mind so I'll share something not older than myself aswell; The works known as "Hiatus & Shura - Lionesque"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfT5diWE83Y
It's a Free Download send from the Heavens to liberate those Souls that will Listen & Feel, to those few Minds that will Clearly Think and work with The Heart, and Fly off into the Night Sky amongst the Stars with the Moonlight. Angelic whispers...
But that which will wreak my train of thought and stop my heart and listen to the next pulse of the body, is the works of Burial:

The Atmospheres of Crackle,
The Slow Haunting Beats
That Delicate Harmony
Fly off into the Void with Me
:)
I welcome you
Human Kind
I'm "omnivourous" when it comes to music, but let this song be the first I share here... this song visits me from time to time, mostly when I need reminding why it is really that I'm here...
The refrain could be my "motto":
“I do believe it is my duty to remind you of your beauty / I do believe it is and I’ll never forget. / We’re all learning how to be/ Living breathing human beings / In a world full of others living too! / We’re all dancing in a spiral / Even if we think we’re falling down for a while / The only place to go from the bottom is up / So look at your cup / Cause I think it’s full / This very lifetime is our school / And we’re all learning how to be / Human Kind.”
Lovely
It's lovely Reka - thanks for sharing *OK*
Just stumbled in..
Just stumbled into this forum and now know where to find beautiful music at the touch of the mouse - thank you to everyone who has and will post here. In the past I didn't resonate with music, but increasingly I find myself feeling transported by it.
Thank you all.
Meditation and music
"Music and meditation are the two aspects of the same phenomenon.Without music, meditation lacks something;without music, meditation is a little dull, unalive.Without meditation music is simply noise-harmonious but noise.Without meditation music is only entertainment" – OSHO
Although meditation can be beautiful in complete silence,. Here are my shares just for moment just because I find them randomly beautiful.Music can be important &change as we shift in and out of what it is we are moving through!

- Abwûn
Oh Thou, from whom the breath of life comes,
d’bwaschmâja
who fills all realms of sound, light and vibration.
Nethkâdasch schmach
May Your light be experienced in my utmost holiest.
Têtê malkuthach.
Your Heavenly Domain approaches.
Nehwê tzevjânach aikâna d’bwaschmâja af b’arha.
Let Your will come true – in the universe (all that vibrates) just as on earth (that is material and dense).
Hawvlân lachma d’sûnkanân jaomâna.
Give us wisdom (understanding, assistance) for our daily need,
Waschboklân chaubên wachtahên aikâna daf chnân schwoken l’chaijabên.
detach the fetters of faults that bind us, (karma) like we let go the guilt of others.
Wela tachlân l’nesjuna
Let us not be lost in superficial things (materialism, common temptations),
ela patzân min bischa.
but let us be freed from that what keeps us off from our true purpose.
Metol dilachie malkutha wahaila wateschbuchta l’ahlâm almîn.
From You comes the all-working will, the lively strength to act, the song that beautifies all and renews itself from age to age.
Amên.
Sealed in trust, faith and truth. (I confirm with my entire being)

Going Home
Wonderful song Catherine! You've just got to love Leonard. And he's releasing an album of new songs on September 23, two days after his 80th birthday! Here is another one - "Going Home" from his 2012 album, "Old Ideas."
"Going home
Without my sorrow
Going home
Sometime tomorrow
Going home
To where it's better
Than before
Going home
Without my burden
Going home
Behind the curtain
Going home
Without the costume
That I wore"
Thank you, Finch, for Cohen's "Going Home"
Hi Finch,
I haven't heard this song before. It moves me to tears. I'm going to buy Leonard Cohen's "Old Ideas" album. I need to catch up with his newer stuff. 80 and going strong. What a guy. Thank you. Catherine :)
Come Healing
Okay another one for you, Catherine, also from Old Ideas. This is a live version, which makes it all the better.

A Tribe Called Red
Jen,
Love the vibe! Lots of hot primal passion for Valentine's Day haha! In keeping with the earthy fire energy, you might enjoy this music and video from a Canadian native band called "A Tribe Called Red." They're pretty hot stuff in the Canadian music scene. As the kids say, "The dope beat is Siccckkk!" x Catherine

I am loved..." :)
This one has absolutely amazing lyrics too. I also love the music...

Out of the depths I call Thee
A few months back Open posted a tract from Terry Oldfield's whale music. I felt such a strong resonance so immediately downloaded one of his albums to my iPod. Since then I have meditated to Oldfield's sublime music almost everyday and am guided by our friends, the whales, to ever and ever greater depths. Here is profoundly beautiful song from the album, De Profundis Out of the Depths. xxx Catherine
I agree with you Catherine.
I agree with you Catherine. I too immediately downloaded an album and use it a lot in meditation classes. Awesome!!!

Happy we're both feeling the powerful vibes of Oldfield's whale music, Cynthia! Heavenly song, Jan. Thank you! Open hands. Open hearts.

And I feel...
This song helped me touch a deep place last night at a 5 rhythms dance. It speaks to me on a number of levels and the video reminds me of the chaos of the society in which we live and the transitory nature of life.
Warroirs
I have been enjoying this song lately. I realized recently it is from the Insurgent movie. Thought I'd share it here for anyone else who resonates with it
Kim.

Nice one, Kim
Hi Kim,
Thanks for sharing - a powerful song!
I loved the movie too.
Love Fiona
One Day, One Day, One Day...
Kim, I enjoyed the kick-ass song "Warriors" from the film "Insurgent" and the lyrics, "The time will come when you'll have to rise above the best..." Fiona, the inimitable Madonna rocks it again with "Ray of Light." "She's got herself a little piece of heaven waiting for the time when earth shall be as one."
"One Day" by Matisyahu elevates my soul when I'm feeling worn down by all the suffering in this crazy, effed up world. It inspires me to feel into the harmony and unconditional love of the higher paradigm "…where there will be no more wars and our children will play."
"Sometimes I lay
Under the moon,
And thank God I'm breathing.
Then I pray
Don't take me soon
'Cause I am here for a reason...
Sometimes in my tears I drown,
But I never let it get me down.
So when negativity surrounds,
I know some day it'll all turn around…"

Into the West
Music is my language these days. As Trinity and Open journey from Glastonbury to the west coast of Canada, Annie Lennox's song "Into the West" from the film "Lord of the Rings" resonates deeply within. This attached video clip of her song features many of the beloved characters from the film trilogy: Frodo, Sam Wise, Arwen, Lady Galadriel, Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, Elrond. Shining, courageous, dauntless spiritual warriors. Like us Openhanders. xxx Catherine
Beautiful Catherine
Thank you!
One Headlight
Here's a song from Jakob Dylan (son of Bob Dylan) and The Wallflowers "One Headlight" from the era of '90's rock. The Wallflowers also had a hit with "Heroes." Open played the version of "Heroes" by David Bowie last night at the Divine Being seminar. It's one of my very favourite songs so I loved hearing it! "One Headlight" resonates deeply within me. Perhaps it will with some of you, as well. xxx Catherine
The Absence of Fear
This song by Jewel magically came to me today =)
Brave
This song floats my boat these days: Sara Bareilles with her upbeat hit song "Brave"
"Say what you wanna say, and let the words fall out…"
xxx Catherine
I wanna see you be brave!
awesome Catherine!! I LOVE this song and it started playing in my head after your other post =). So glad you posted it here! x Jen
