To be completely honest about who you are, what you feel, and what is important for you. That way, nothing is concealed in the interaction. The other has the chance to respond to you as you are. It breaks down sense of obligation to do, or be, something you are not. You're actually requiring people to accept you as you are. As a result, they're much more likely to do so.
