03/09/2026 Shift Insight: Power of Dissociation

It's essential here, with regard to truly enlightened states, to explore the difference between detachment and dissociation. Because detachment only leads to another level of identity; albeit, a more subtle one.

The Power of Now?

In my observation from working with groups here the last 22 years, there's been a widespread assimilation of a misleading and derailing concept that I believe came from The Power of Now. Whether stated this way or not, what many have picked up, is that where there's attachment to something, 'to drop it like dropping hot coals'. And this does indeed, temporarily at least, lead to a deeper sense of peace in the situation. But does it solve the situation? And more importantly than that: Who is dropping the hot coals?

With this last question- who is doing it, let me explain: You are NOT an identity; you are NOT the false self ego; neither are you that which needs to avoid reality. You are the pure presence of the Source that needs avoid no situation or circumstance; even, and especially, the 'hot coals' (the hot coals may relate to all aspects of daily living).

The approach of 'dropping the hot coals' leads then to a not-so-subtle level of new identity: a more mainstream spiritual one that feels more surrendered, but only in certain circumstances. And it's definitely NOT the pure presence that you are underneath.

Aloof From Reality

I've witnessed many people now, who've dipped their toes into the Openhand work over the years, in this completely detached state - aloof, from the true nature of reality. They look peaceful and calm on the surface, but it only takes a degree of catalytic prodding for that veneer to shatter. Usually then, what you get is annoyance and projection, rather than ownership - blaming the external, and especially the catalyst!

This is where dissociation comes in - and it's what I'm talking about in relation to this Great Shift we're sailing through.

The Great Shift will be, and is already becoming, the compulsion to pass through the eyes of the needle in a multitude of life's experiences - to positively turn into the 'hot coals' and walk fearlessly across them. How to do this?

When You Feel The Heat

If you immediately react and pull away from the heat (in a given situation), and if you simply just drop it, then you create a polarity with the heat: You and the heat.

This You is not the real you. It's a reactionary identity. That then often gets cemented in place by taking this new false self beyond risk and confrontation: by seeking security, soft comfort, and safety. This makes you even more susceptible to what's coming in the Shift - it turns you into a victim of the Shift.

However, if instead, when you feel the heat (which could be emotional, mental or karmic triggering), then the key is to go right into the centre of the heat and feel it completely, fully, intimately. What does this do?

It means you close the distance with the heat. You become so close to it, so at one with it, there is nothing but the heat. And because there's nothing but the heat, then the relativity of 'hot and cold' disappears for you. In other words: you touch the Absolute and become The One in the experience. Now it no longer defines you.

The Eye of the Needle

From this point, you can steadily forge through the experience, through the eye of the needle. In which case, the soul no longer fragments in that particular situation of 'heat' (let's say, for example, in the breakdown of a relationship). Instead, you remain whole, integral, and authentic through the situation.

Now something else magical happens: that new aspect of soul that previously fragmented in the situation comes to bear; you transform the situation with a new aspect of beingness. Now the whole reality situation changes, because your consciousness comes to bear in a more coherent and complete way.

This is the measure of dissociation rather than detachment.

Straightforward but Not Easy

Dissociation is an approach to master, yes. It's actually straightforward, but it's not easy. And therefore requires copious amounts of practice. But here's the point: in the Shift now gathering, as reality constructs bend and break, increasingly, you're going to be confronted more and more with these 'crunch points'. And by 'reframing' them in the way I've described, each crunch point provides a doorway: through identification with the physical, and instead, into your immaculate spiritual self - the real one!

That's the great benefit of the power of dissociation. It leads to true Enlightenment.

PS: Most people in spiritual mainstream currently turn away from this level of confrontation, deep immersion, and challenging inner work. They'll tell you: 'Why bother? Why not just let go!' (but only the new spiritual false self is letting go). Such that if you take on this approach of dissociation, it will separate you and make you look kind of odd or different - that's no reason to stop! Because it leads to true mastery in the Shift, and in reality.
