Great predictive programming for where we could be headed. Another film that shows what has been running our world is Kubrick,s Eyes Wide Shut.

While on the subject of last films, one of my favourites is Robert Altman's "A Prairie Home Companion". One of the strangest and most uplifting films I have seen. Totally between two worlds. Extraordinary! here's what someone said about it -"What a lovely film this is, so gentle and whimsical, so simple and profound"

aren't you fast! :)
looking forward to it, thank you for the continuous inspiration!

woohoo!! thank you Chris, im always ready for a good film treat...

guess what... not realising it was also a film, just yesterday i bought the book The Host (thinking i need some "real quality" literature, haha. No pretentiousness intended, but it is pulp - i love it).

So now im looking forward to reading it, and then i'll see the movie too.

Hope you're fine, rested and recovered after your long trips, ready to bounce on, i hope?
love,

Trinity and myself have just watched two quite powerful films "Host and Oblivion". It amazes me how such stories come to fruition when I recognise elements of truth that inspire them. Yes they are just stories, but as people begin to awaken, they're stimulating memories and consciousness of the collective story we all hold within us. One day, not too far away, we'll remember exactly what's happened and why we're here right now.

Here are the plot outlines and trailers for the two films - if you feel moved, both would be worth watching...

  • Host:"Souls", a species of parasitic aliens, have invaded Earth, deeming the humans too violent to deserve the planet. When a Soul is implanted into a host body the consciousness of the original owner is eventually erased, leaving only their memories and knowledge. Wanderer, a Soul who was given her name for not living more than one host's life on any of eight previous planets, is placed in the body of Melanie Stryder, one of the last few humans who've managed to avoid capture. Melanie tried to commit suicide by jumping down an elevator shaft when pursued by Seekers, but was revived by the Souls' advanced medicine. Wanderer is asked by a Seeker to look through Melanie's memories and see if there's anything that can lead them to other humans, but she is being mentally blocked, leading the Seeker to realize Melanie's consciousness is still alive and resisting control."...

  • Oblivion: "In the year 2077, Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is one of the last drone repairmen stationed on Earth, which was nearly destroyed 60 years ago in an apparent invasion by 'Scavs' (who turn out to be remnant humans). Jack and his partner Victoria (Andrea Riseborough) work as a team to exploit and send Earth's remaining resources to a massive tetrahedral space station – called the Tet (which turns out to be an Opposing Consciousness). Jack and Victoria had their memories wiped five years prior for 'security purposes', but now Jack has nostalgic recurring dreams about the time before the war (and his connection to the remnant human colony). As the plot develops, it reveals his reality is not nearly as it seems as he builds a growing bond with the earth that he is soon expected to leave"...

Just came across this thread and had not read it before, it was lovely reading about all the amazing films that had inspired people. It is so amazing when you get that personal connection to a film, a song, a piece of music, a thought for the day anything that inspires you that creates a spark. To me these are reminders of my life, showing me the way, reminding me of what I always knew but in this life it is easy to forget. So i hope for everyone today that they find something to reconnect them to themselves again.

My own personal favourite, and not typically spiritual, is The Shawshank Redemption. His committment to his own belief in himself and what he knows to be true does not overwhelm him but truly inspires him to, quietly, steadily, gently move him forward, day by day, sometimes minute by minute. He uses skills learned in this life to blend with his true nature to help him cope with the injustice that he currently faces. I used to watch this when I was feeling tired or ready to 'give up' but now I only have to see the name and click I'm right back to where I need to be.

This one isn't easy viewing at times, and for some in the film it does not have the happy ending that people sometimes dream of, but on the whole it is my spark, my reminder of my truth.

Enjoy x

I saw Cloud Atlas a few weeks ago too. I was so excited having seen the trailer, it promised so much about past life connectedness, and working through your Kharma....I really enjoyed it although (You can probably hear the BUT coming a mile away right!!) for me it initially disappointed on a couple of points. I found the different characters & plots hard to follow for the first half too. I really hoped the film makers (From The Matrix) would go further with the subject...it felt a bit tame & subtle compared to the trailer.
Although I think that might just have been me because it did have a profound effect the following day as I think energetically I got it far more than on a cognitive level, so I researched it a bit & the penny dropped intellectually too. Tad embarrassing but I didn't realise all 15 or so of the main actors played 6 parts each, I got the obviously ones but totally missed the fact that there was that much symmetry in it. A pretty amazing achievement for the actors & the whole production I thought! It left me really wanting to see it again to take in more of the layers of appreciation I clearly missed.

Ps. Love Hugh Grant as a cannibal, it was just hilarious :)
Didn't realise 'Mr Smith' was English & if I admit to falling asleep for the shortest cat nap ever when Tom Hanks & Haile Berry met in his office, you'll probably understand why I didnt get it all ;)...quite a key moment I've since realised.
It is very exciting where filmmakers are taking their art!

Hi Jamie - nice to hear from you.

Trinity and I saw it a couple of weeks back before she went off to Hawaii. Amazing film indeed - personally I found the first hour a little challenging - to stay connected to the various stories. But as they all hotted up and then finally merged together - awesome!

Hi

I loved "Spring, ....". I saw it a while back, but it left its trace, very deep.

I know it sounds very funny, but I was avoiding seeing Twilight for years, until I saw New Moon, the 2nd movie, by chance. It brought me to see all four parts:Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn Part 1. And I am watching them repeatedly lately. And for me personally it is like one huge source of metaphorical and direct messages as if personally for me, one after the other.

Somehow it has both the dark and the light sides and was just pushing all possible buttons and has shown me so much about both simple "ordinary", almost 'boring' life on Earth and the spiritual part of it. I was and am still absolutely positively overwhelmed :) Not to mention the pleasure, I just enjoy watching it so much.

So I don't know if it will be as 'spiritual' as it is to me, but I already saw it 5 times (every part) and didn't finish to dig all the gifts from it yet :)

And the songs there... the lyrics... Wow! Well, here's one of them:

Greetings Everyone,

This is one of our favorite films. We have watched it up teen times and could watch it again and again, and we are still awed by it precisely because it never loses its flavor so to speak.

Because of its minimal use of dialogue it allows for many interpretations, the mind seems to be bypassed so the heart can listen and observe.

To me this is a Masterpiece of beauty and a story that parallels all our lives in subtle metaphoric ways and how Karma can be a highway to empower the Soul.

It is a Korean film with subtitles. For those that don't like subtitled films don't let that scare you away!

This film is an Initiation in itself...Enjoy.

Haven't seen Spring....S,F,W...spring yet but caught the trailer the other day on a film rating website. It looked just the most beautiful piece of film making & story telling. Thanks for the confirmation it really felt like it would be a nurturing of the heart meditative experience.

Yeah, well I saw this movie while having quite an emotional ride... basically, to put it short; I felt like I just couldn't find any smallest amount of sanity anywhere on this planet, and then this movie came along, as a gift from benevolence. I was VERY present while watching it, and guided to notice some very subtle, but amazingly significant details about the charterers, the flow of the moment, and my own situation here on this planet. That simply blew my mind.

So; call me crazy ;-) but I find this movie to be very spiritual, and after seeing it a second time; still classified as one of the best I´ve ever seen.

And yes Chris, it was indeed very empowering!

Thanks for being here guys, much love to both of you :-)

'One flew over the cuckoo's nest' from 1975, I just saw it the other day and it just broke my heart into a billion pieces... Its the best movie I've ever seen, without the smallest doubt! I´m gonna watch it again tonight.

Wow Lei, you're in the flow. You cannot imagine how that clip has just touched me. It's a big clue in a conundrum I've been wrestling with. "Feel it with open hands!"

Thanks

I found this to be quite an inspiring movie about 2 people who initially have a resistance to follow the pull of their soul and eventually follow the flow of it in which they find peace and discover what we thought was our plan turns out to be something very different.....

Yes Alex I have seen Nausicaa, A few times actually!!! I love that movie, itt gives me that mystical feelings as well! The part with the golden field reminds me of that place inside that feels like home.

Speaking of Miyazaki i was shaken by Nausicaä.
If you like Princess Mononoke and haven't seen this one, watch it and let me know how it's making you feel :)

Not only is Princess Mononoke one of my favourite movies ever, its also a very spiritual one. I get a lot of feeling from this film, and it gives me that mystical connection with nature and spirit. Spirited Away is another great film by Hayao Miyazaki.

Bram Stoker's Dracula: Dracula becomes so upset from the seperation of his loved one that he turns dark. He stays with this immortal darkness so that he can reunite with her in another lifetime. I really like the magical powers and occult science in this film. And I really resonate with that longing to be reunited with ones beloved. Also the cast is awesome!!!

Kung Fu Panda: already mentioned, but for me is probably the most uplifting movies I have ever seen. I see my true self in the panda, a kind and gentle heart.

Thanks so much for sharing this Fiona. I find it heart warming. I didn't realise it was based on a true story. And I was so amazed to finally see a 'mass audience' film that truly gets what a soul mate is all about. Here's a wonderful quote from the lady who the film is about...

  • "People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life." Elizabeth Gilbert

To me this is awesome truth. I'm so thrilled it's making its way into the mass media. However, she also says...

  • "A true soul mate is probably the most important person you'll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave.

I would say Elizabeth, you've only really had a taste of the True Soul Mate, perhaps not met the real thing? Or else enough layers haven't been broken down yet, pain has become suffering rather than true and deep inner confrontation. When we have the courage to do this, living with a True Soul Mate indefinitely becomes a joy. Nothing is being hidden. Everything is be owned up to and transparent. But you have to really go that extra mile to get there!

I think that many animations have wonderful messages. Happy Feet and The Bee Movie are two that come to mind, for me they were great reminders about following one's own path at whatever cost. The inner strength and resolve of the charactors is inspirational and there were other messages too, like looking after our wonderous planet, it's ok to be different, love and friendship and of course to simply be (or Bee). The Bee Movie also showed that when following your own path it's not necessarily in other folks best interest to do the same, they have their own paths to follow. Plus there's lots of humour in it, always good to laugh :) There's also The Lion King, Toy Story, Shrek... Reassuring that young people are watching some good stuff :) Recently watched Kung Fu Panda and below are some words of wisdom from Master Oogway!
