Extract from Chaung Tzu

Submitted by OpenhandTeam on Thu, 04/13/2006 - 07:19

"As long as the tower is guarded
    By the invisible Protector...

Who acts unconsciously, and whose actions
Go astray when they become deliberate,
    Reflexive, and intentional

    The unconsciousness
    And entire sincerity of Tao
    Are disturbed by any effort
    At self-conscious demonstration.
    All such demonstrations
    Are lies.

    When one displays himself
    In this ambiguous way
    The world outside storms in
    And imprisons him.

    He is no longer protected
    By the sincerity of Tao."

Styless style

Submitted by OpenhandTeam on Fri, 12/09/2005 - 18:52

    "Styles tend to separate men
because they have their own doctrines...

and then the doctrine becomes the gospel,
    truth that you cannot change
But if you do not have a style,
if you just say: Well, here I am as a human being,
how can I express myself totally and completely?
now, that way you won't create a style,
    because style is a crystallisation.
That way, it's a process of continuing growth"

The eye of the I

Submitted by OpenhandTeam on Wed, 11/30/2005 - 10:40

    "In ordinary states of consciousness,
sound prevails over a background of silence and replaces it...

In contrast, in the Presence, the opposite occurs.
Although sound is perceptible, it is in the background.
The Silence prevails so that the silence is actually not interrupted or displaced by the sound.
Nothing disturbs the stillness or interferes with its peace."

I have learned so much...

Submitted by OpenhandTeam on Tue, 11/08/2005 - 08:16

I have learned so much from God
that I can no longer call myself a Christian,
    a Hindu, a Muslim, a Buddhist, a Jew...

The Truth has shared so much of Itself
with me that I can no longer call myself
a man, a woman, an angel, or even a pure Soul.

Love has befriended Hafiz so completely
it has turned to ash and freed me of every
concept and image my mind has ever known.

Attune to the Infinite Mind

Submitted by OpenhandTeam on Wed, 10/12/2005 - 07:41

"Just as when a lake is quite still
it reflects perfectly the surrounding beauty of hill and sky,
so also does our mind when perfectly calm...

reflect the beauty, harmony, perfection and order of the Divine.
    When we become completely still,
our mind becomes attuned to the Infinite Mind,
    after which nothing else matters."

Desire is a judgement...

Submitted by OpenhandTeam on Fri, 09/09/2005 - 06:33

"Desire is a judgment of the moment,
saying 'I judge that outcome is better than this one'...

It is caused by fear and ignorance,
not trusting what the universe is unfolding.
It is like applying the hand brake to a moving car,
it leads to fate rather than destiny.
    Desire requires effort...
enlightenment requires lack of all effort."
